Business
1. The minutes of the January 7th meeting were approved.
2. The minutes of the February 4th meeting were approved.
3. Anna informed the committee that she was interviewed on "Community Exchange" on cable
channel 3. It has not yet been cablecast but is scheduled to be shown at 7:30 PM on Thursday, March 5th.
The host, Jessie Mraz asked Anna to give a background of the committee and tell about the early plans.
Using Boston's First Night celebrations as a guide Anna compared the proposed events at Birch Meadow
to those at the Hynes Center, while the activities planned for Reading Square would be comparable to the
Back Bay. The committee was invited back to a future show to tell of further developments.
4. Anna presented a tentative timeline to be used as a base for planning and filling in gaps.
Discussion continued on a possible movie festival. An idea was presented, placing the film festival at the
World Clock, replacing live entertainment. This idea will be studied further.
5. Karen Sawyer gave an update on her progress with a web page. She stated that she has begun to
compile ideas on how it should be established. She will be able to present a proposed structure at the next
meeting. The next stage after that, she says, is to decide on content, followed by determining a "look and
feel". The final step is to have the site coded. Karen also has in her possession a framed and animated
seven page Millennium Party site previously developed by Alan Foulds.
6. It was moved by Alan Foulds, and seconded by Dick Stosez that the framework presented at the
last meeting be adopted as the official plan for the Millennium Party. It is understood by all committee
members that the plan is subject to change as plans evolve. The plan calls for an evening celebration in
and around Reading Square, using various church and government halls, consisting of acts of short
duration. A ceremony of some sort will take place at midnight, incorporating the Old South clock, and
possibly an oversized hat, representative of our logo. A second celebration will be centered at Birch
Meadow, with the World Clock as the centerpiece. Included will be participatory events, such as a "Beaux
Arts Ball, a high school dance, a middle school event, children's events, and a giant game. The motion
carried unanimously.
