In attendance: Anna Carroll Foulds, Alan Foulds, Dick Stosez, Alan Smith, Mary Williams, Steve Crook, and Karen Sawyer. Non-member in attendance: Phil Rushworth from the cable station Business 1. The minutes of the September 1998 meeting were approved. 2. Dick reported on the library usage for the Industrial Exposition. He was told by the Library Director, Dee Hanley that we could use the ground floor. The meeting room is already booked for that time period. Mary suggested that the Expo should run for about one week, beginning with a reception. The reception would also serve as an opening for the Millennium Party itself. The committee accepted the idea. The beginning and ending dates are still to be worked out, but the Expo will probably run from Sunday, December 26`h or Monday, December 271h, 1999 to Friday, December 31 1999 or Saturday, January 1 s`, 2000. 3. Mary reported on the "Winter House Warming". Mary placed articles in both newspapers. The Chronicle had a general story, outlining the plans for the celebration. The Advocate ran a story announcing the "Housewarming". Mary reported that the response was not good. For now she has decided to drop the idea, with a possibility of reviving it next year. 4. Souvenirs. The Drama Club has agreed to take on the job of selling our souvenirs as a community service, and for exposure for them. They will sell them for the entire time our committee is in existence. Karen reported that Donna will have a completed logo on Thursday, Oct. 15'h separated. Karen will pick it up and bring it to Tom O'Connor for printing t-shirts and sweatshirts. 5. There was no correspondence to report. (D. Stosez had to leave at 7:30). 6. Ace reported that Ed Palmer has offered a plan for printing a "Then & Now" book displaying old and new photographs of Reading, to be used as a fundraiser for our activities. Ed originally planned to make a presentation at the meeting, but he feels that since he cannot have it ready by Christmas, there is no rush. He will contact us in the future to discuss the project.
