Polling of those present found the majority in favor of the Article
as written, with 3 abstentions and 3 opposed..
At 10:30 P.M. the Chairman thanked all present and adjourned the
hearing.

Minutes of the Meeting of April 10, 1980.
At 10:40 P.M. the Board reconvened in Room 19, 52 Sanborn Street
(the Communitv Center) with Chairman J. Zorabedian calling the
meeting to order with members Barry Mitchel, Ellen 'Childress and
John Shaw present. Also present at this meeting was Gail Wood,
Secretary of the Board of Public Works.
Public Hearing - Article 16 (Parking)
After discussion the Board unanimously voted to recommend. indefinite
postponement of Article 16 on the Special Town Meeting Warrant
because of the confusion over the lnaguage as presently written.
They will reconsider a parking article after adjournment of Annual
Town Meeting.

The Planning Board has been notified that the salary account for
the Secretary has been recommended to, be cut to $0.00. The Board
has been scheduled for a meeting with FinCom on April 17, 1980 at
7:15 P.M. at Parker Junior High to discuss this matter.
Interdepartmental Request
Mr. Zorabedian has:;been in contact with::the School Committee and
the School Committee is about to formally ask the Planning Board
to assist them in the future use of school buildings because of
the impact of declining enrollment.
Public Hearing - Article 51 (Buffer area)
The Board discussed the Public Hearing of this Article and requested
Ellen Childress, with the assistance of the Secretary, prepare a
report for presentation to Town Meeting as per Chapter 40A. G.L.

Chairman Zorabedian responded to the inquiry Ms. Wood.made about
the formation of the Study Committee for Dump Site Development.
Background information included the conversations the Planning
Board has had with the Board of Selectmen since October 1979 in
trying to obtain volunteers to serve on this Committee. Most
recently the Board was told by Chairman O'Brien that they were
responsible for studying the use of Town-owned land and Mr.
Zorabedian is now proceeding with soliciting volunteers to serve
on this committee. Chairman O'Brien stated in their discussion
that the Sasaki Report indicates that this property should not
be sold piecemeal.
Article 48 - Sale of land at Union and Middle Streets
The Board discussed whether or not to recommend that the land at
Union and Middle Streets be retained for a Town parking lot. Mr.
BEn Nichols of the Land Bank Committee recommends that this parcel
of land be retained for this purpose as per a previous conversation
with the Board's secretary.
Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the Board unanimously voted
to adjourn at 11:35 P.M.

Room 131, Reading Memorial High School with Board members Barry
Mitchel and Ellen Childress,present.
