The meeting opened at 7:30.
I
The subcommittee reviewed the minutes of September 7, 1994 and approved such minutes
by a vote of 3-0-0.
The Subcommittee discussed the warrant article to purchase a new fire truck. Originally,
there was $ 55,000 in the F/Y `95 budget to refurbish the truck. Request for bids went
out and the refurbishment price was determined to be $ 67,000. The Fire Department and
the town Manager felt it would be more prudent to purchase a new fire pumper since this
would involve moving up the $ 185,000 that was already in the Capital Plan for F/Y `96.
The subcommittee voted to recommend by a vote of 3-0-0 warrant articles 3 and 5
regarding the fire pumper and hose in the total of $ 185,000, the source of funds would
be the annual appropriation.
The Subcommittee discussed warrant article 12 regarding Parker Middle School and the
related funding plans. The subcommittee also discussed new capital project requests that
were not in the Capital Plan which supported the funding of Parker. The Subcommittee
voted to amend Article 3 and recommend Article 12 for $ 13,917,000 for Parker Middle
School by a vote of 3-0-0; however, the Subcommittee is aware of $ 4 - 5 million of new
capital requests to be incurred over the next 5 years and is concerned that such requests
will place considerable additional demands on the Capital Plan.
The Subcommittee discussed the status of the new draft Capital Plan with the Town
Manager.
The next meeting was scheduled for November 9th at 7:30 PM in the ]Employees Lounge.
The meeting adjourned at 9:30.
