HELD ON MARCH 28, 1994 AT 7.15 P.M.
READING TOWN HALL
Present at the meeting were Jim Guarente, Chairman, Jim Liston,
Secretary, Richard Cohen and Joseph Hagan.
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. The Board first
discussed the need for the Board to prepare and present an RFP to
Continental Cable Vision stating all of the things that the Board will
seek in its next contract with, Continental. Continental will then
counter-propose what it will provide and we will begin negotiations with
them.
It was determined that we would attempt to obtain copies of the
Somerville and contracts which have recently been
negotiated. MW
Jim Guarente described his meeting with the Light Board in which they
indicated that they would not be interested in installing fiber optics as
this was~ift expensive. It was anticipated that this would be prohibited by
the Town Charter in any event.

The Board discussed arranging for a and it was determined
that we would attempt to use the lecture hall at the High School and
possibly have the public meeting recorded and video taped. It was
determined that Continental should have a representative at the meeting.
The question was raised as to whether the Board of Selectman must attend
the meeting, how long the meeting should take, etc.`
The Board determined that it would be necessary to pick additional
meeting dates and the following dates were selected: May 5, 1994, May 12,
1994, May 19, 1994 and May 26, 1994. It was anticipated that a public
hearing would take place on the May 19 meeting date.
The Minutes of the March 16! 1994 as amended were voted upon and
approved three to nothing with Rich Cohen abstaining because he had not
been present at that meeting.
Jim Guarente suggested that we have an election of offices which would
take place atone of the next meeti-Ags when all were in attendance.. The
meeting adjourned at'approximately 9:15 p.m.
