HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-06-23 Cable TV Advisory Committee MinutesMINUTES OF MEETING OF CABLE TV ADVISORY BOARD HELD ON JUNE 23, 1994 AT 7.15 P.M READING TOWN HALL Present at the meeting were Jim Guarente, Marlt, Richard Cohen, Jim Liston and a representative of Continental Cablevision, Greg pKn The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. Greg began with a rdiscussion of adjustments to the basic broadcast rates. He provided information on a decrease in the rates which will take effect in July of 1994 and will be, shown on the August, 1994 bills to customers. There followed a discussion as to the pros and :cons of Reading being a 'cost of service" as opposed,to a "benchmark" town for the purpose of rate adjustments\~There followed a discussion by Greg of Rate Regulation II and Rate Regulation I. There followed a discussion .!.regarding. whether continental is required Jai by the applicable Licensing. :Agreement to wire Austin Prep since Austin 3 Y~' Prep is a private rather,than. a public school. The contract is s lent as`~ to private vs. public: schools, and simply provides that Continental will q~ wire all schools. „ The Board determined that it would review any new contract and examine the issue of whether private schools should be excluded from services under the Town contract with Continental. Greg announced that Lynn:_Tierney had been transferred and that Greg will be the representative of.Continental with whom we will be dealing in the future.: He;-_indicated_;,that -he would be part of the Continental negotiating., team: that will meet with.us at a later date. t There followed discussion regarding the Information Task Force and iY' Cf tl,~bn S~, 4-0 T 1 , relicensing process. This task force is preparing a report and it was suggested that the report could be used as the school's input into the process and that we could schedule a presentation from the Information Ta$k Force for what is needed.
