Bernie turned the meeting over to Brenda to present and discuss Media One's violation of the contract.
The items of discussion for which Media One is responsible for solving included:
a) Continuous electrical problems concerning safety and affects on quality of video display intermittently.
b) Video lines (crawl) that are visible on channel 9 by viewers and intermittently at the studio.
c) The Head end for Reading moved to the RCTV location and powered by RCTV instead of MediaOne and the
fact that the Head end does not meet that part of contract section 5-6 for stereo aural capability.
d) 282 tapes were removed from the RCTV studio and only some were copied and returned, but the remaining have
not been accounted for. The deadline date was April 2, 1999.
Brenda also provided interesting information concerning the progress of the Board of Directors and the
co-operation between the BOD and how well the Nonprofit RCTV organization is functioning.
Another member of the BOD was present about a half hour after the start of the meeting and both he and Brenda
left approximately at 8:20 PM.
Bernie then provided copies of information that she received from Brenda Smith President of RCTV concerning
violation of terms of the Cable Television License between MediaOne and the Town of Reading. The CATV
members discussed the issues and Bernie will prepare a letter with all the pertinent details for the Town Manager
to present to the Selectmen.
We also reviewed the minutes of the last three meeting of the CATV committee and were accepted as read as
follows:
1998-12-14 (4 - 0); 1999-01-20 (4 - 0); 1999-03-16 (3 - 0 - 1)
Pending the need for an emergency meeting prior to June; the next meeting is scheduled for June 2, 1999 at
6:30 PM.
This meeting was adjourned at 9:22 PM.
Respectfully s9praitted,
Joe Santangelo Secy.
