V. COMMITTEE AND LIAISON REPORTS
A. 350th, Inc. (Paul Sweeney, President)
We took in a total of $1,017.10 on the two Saturdays we
sold Easter coffee mugs and other memorabilia in the Atlantic
.foyer.
There was discussion and a vote regarding the Reading
Symphony Orchestra concert. This was discussed later in the
meeting.
Summerfest: July 8-11, 1992: We hope to have our portable
gazebo available by then. We have planned to show slides or
movies of old Reading. We will be selling our merchandise.
Next meeting will be May 3 at the YMCA.
350th Mascot: It was suggested we consider a skunk to be
our official mascot. There is a story about a man who went
walking in the Reading woods and came upon a skunk. This is
from a journal that could be worked into a children's story.
Sidewalk Sale: We will call the Chamber of Commerce to
find when the next one is.
Paul Sweeney will draft a letter to the businesses in
Reading for fund raising.
B. Book Committee (Everett Blodgett, liaison)
The next meeting will be April 29, 1992 (Wed.) TOMORROW!
The goal of the meeting is to get a chairperson!! The book
will be a pictorial book of about 350 pages, all black an
white (maybe some sepia). The Committee intends to s the
book out strictly for printing having done l ed' ing
themselves. It must be to the printer in A ri 1993 to be
out by November, 1993. Prints are being a uated for
content, quality and reproducibility. It was voted that $250
be allocated for petty cash for the Book Committee for
material and supplies under the direction of the liaison.
All communication must come through the liaison.

C. Parade Committee (Cathy Quimby, liaison)
The kick-off meeting will be May 11, 1992 at 8:00. John Shaw
is the chairman. The 1994 date of the parade will be June 4
at 2:00 PM.
D. Anniversary Ball (Susan Theophanis, liaison)
The Grand Ball will be held at the Radisson in Woburn on June
3, 1994. The Halloween Ball will be held October 31, 1992 at
the Hillview Country Club in North Reading. It will be a
costume ball (optional) and period costuming will be
encouraged. There will be a cash bar and cider, coffee and
donuts will be served. The Hillview will accommodate 350
people. The Committee hopes to get Bob Bacheldor's band.
The next meeting of the Halloween Ball Sub-Committee will be
May 12, 1992 at Grace Fitzpatrick's home - 162 Walnut Street
at 7:30.
E. Reading Symphony Orchestra (RSO) (Susan Theophanis,
liaison) The total cost of producing and performing William
Thomas McKinley's jazz composition will be $5,000. The
performance will take place in May, 1994 at the Reading
Memorial High School. The 350th Committee will pick up half
the cost of the production with the RSO picking up the other
half. We need to give McKinley half of the final cost now
(the 350th's share being $1,250). There was discussion about
the date of the performance (probably May 7 or 14, 1994) and
about who will actually receive the profits from the
performance (OR cover a loss). It was voted to approve the
financial aspects of participation in the Reading Symphony
Orchestra performance of the William Thomas McKinley jazz
composition up to a maximum of $3,000. A letter to the RSO
should suggest a May 14th date. The vote was unanimous with
one abstention.
F. Final Day Picnic
Entertainment could be Sweet Adelines, Spice of Life or
Down East Revival.
G. Publicity (Cathy Quimby/Nancy Smethurst)
We should thank Fabric Town and Atlantic for their help in
