B. Book Committee (Everett Blodgett, liaison)
The last meeting of this group was April 29. The next will
be May 20. Everett Blodgett is now chairman and Carol
Beckwith is Assistant Chairman. Seed money will be provided
through the Corporation. Seed money for the project will be
$40,000-$50,000 with potential for a profit of $70,000-
$80,000. The Book Committee decided that they want no ads in
the book so that they are free of patron control.
Three possible sponsorship scenarios are:
1. Single sponsor putting up $40-000-$50,000. It is
unrealistic to expect that we will get this type of
sponsorship.
2. Sponsors by the chapter (15-20 sponsors)
3. Collective group sponsors (such as all banks in
town).
The book will be a pictorial "coffee table" type book of
about 350 pages, 15-20 chapters, black and white (with some
sepia detail), with a color jacket and will sell for $35.
The Book Committee will do the editing and create their own
mechanicals.
C. Parade Committee (Cathy Quimby, liaison)
Cathy has asked the Shriners for a letter of commitment,
although we already have a verbal. The Masons might feed the
Shriners.
Joe Veno of the police department recommended a route which
now needs approval of the Selectmen. This route is:
Starting at Birch Meadow, to Main Street south to Washington
Street, right on Washington to High Street, right on High
Street (depot platform for reviewing stand), continue on High
Street to intersection with Lowell Street; cross Lowell
Street to Harvard Street; Harvard to John Carver; return to
Birch Meadow (3.2 miles). Joe Veno of the police department
will work up what expenses the police control will entail for
such a parade.
D. Jubileve
The police are concerned with control of this event.
E. Anniversary Ball (Susan Theophanis, liaison)
The Halloween Howl to be held October 31, 1992 at the
Hillview Country Club in North Reading is all set. They have
decided to use a DJ instead of Bob Bacheldor's band. Their
next meeting will be August 25th at Susan Theophanis's summer
home in Gloucester.

F. Reading Symphony Orchestra (Susan Theophanis, liaison)
McKinley sent his contract to be signed. There were a number
of discrepancies and unclear points in it. Ken Latham will
go over the contract and re-draw it. Some of the questions
were: the fact that the cost was to be no more than $5,000
and the contract states a higher amount; the fact that the
name "Reading" does not appear in the suggested title;
question of ownership of profits and royalties; question of
specified time of delivery; question of who is authorized to
sign for this 350th or RSO.
G. Publicity (Cathy Quimby/Nancy Smethurst)
Cathy and Nancy will publicize the Militia's can/bottle
drive.
H. Antiquarian Society
The 350th Book Sub Committee will have a display on Charter
Tea Day., June 14, 1992, Sunday from 2-5.
VI. ON-GOING REVIEWS
A. GANTT Chart review
B. Celebration Period review
C. Budget review
The Budget Sub-Committee will meet in June.

VIII. NEW BUSINESS

1 can visualize the following,
the Steering Committee's brainstorming:
1. Since school is still in session, the middle school and Creative
Arts may each be able to sponsor a simple band and/or choral group.

also.
2. Each class and/or grade could sponsor a child's float which could
