NOTES:
*1) The History Book will have to be funded-by some other
means.
*2) It was originally hoped that the Reading Day Concert
would be performed by the Reading Symphony Orchestra as they
had done during the 300th Anniversary Celebration. We will
have to make alternative plans since the RSO is unable to do
this. This may mean incurring the cost of hiring a group.

*3) The Reading Symphony Orchestra has committed to spending
an additional $2,500 on the concert.
4) It is hoped that a planned Chicken Barbecue or Chowder
Fest will be planned and sponsored by a town organization.
It was voted to enter into a contract with Telstar Fireworks
for June 10, Friday (raindate, June 11), 1994 to lock them
in. The budgeted amount is $4000. It was suggested we use
the McKinley music as fireworks background music.
The Reading Day Concert budgeted at $2,000 could reduce to $0
depending on who performs.
The Halloween Howl this October is designed to generate seed
money specifically ear-marked for the Grand Ball in 1994. It
was suggested they conduct at 50/50 raffle at the Howl. We
will need a raffle permit from the Town of North Reading
where the Hillview Country Club is located. It is hoped that
the admission tickets will sell for $12.50-$15.00 each and
generate a profit of $5 per person.
It was suggested the YMCA might run the Field Day.
A great deal of discussion went on concerning the financial
details of clubs and organizations running events. Who pays
their expenses? Who gets any profits or shares any losses?
We need to establish a uniform policy. Paul Sweeney will
talk with legal counsel about fund raising and profits.
It was voted to adopt the presented budget as the"Tentative
Operating Budget:
VI. RECONSIDERATION OF McKINLEY CONTRACT VOTE
After discussion during the examination of the proposed
budget pro-b-lvms with the new contracts with William Thomas
McKinley and the Reading Symphony Orchestra surfaced. It was
voted (unanimously by a vote of 7) to table the contracts for
reconsideration at the next Steering Committee meeting. We
will present these contracts to legal counsel before
proceeding.
