September. Interest is very low right now.

C. Reading Young Women's Club
Wendy Liston of this organization has requested a
presentation. Alan or Paul will do this at their January or
February 1993 meeting.
V. OTHER BUSINESS
A. Halloween Howl
Is there a chance of moving the dance to October 30th? The
Howl Committee will not meet until late August.
B. McKinley/RSO Contracts
Mr. McKinley has agreed to the $5,000 commission fee. There
is still concern about ownership and royalties should we want
to make tapes of the concert and sell them, etc. Peter Cain
requested wording which Ken Latham has added. We will vote on
this in August.
C. Movies at Summerfest
Alan Foulds and Anna Carroll dubbed the 30's and 40's music
over the historic movies. We now know that "The Movie Queen"
was actually produced by the Rotary. It was a play using a
local girl as the fictitious movie queen. Other communities
.staged the same event using their own local "queen". We
should show these films on Channel 3 (Reading Cable.TV).
Perhaps other old films will become available through other
citizens. We should also plan to show these at Mug and
Muffin Day.
D_: 350th Inc. Director's Liability
Cathy Quimby was looking into whether the Steering Committee
is covered by the Town policy. The Corporation, however,
should be insured. Ken Latham will ask young Ken about the
cost of such a policy.
VI. BUSINESS UPDATE
A. Business and Corporation Contacts
Paul will draft a letter on the coattails of the "Sail
Boston" event. It will include:
o Schedule of 1994 events
o What we need financially
o What we have already financially
o Request for seed money
We need a list of businesses. Ken Latham has a book.
Shirley hopes to go to a Chamber of Commerce breakfast to
push this idea.

B. Marketing
The August 18, 1992 meeting will be dedicated to marketing.
Some ideas that were brought forward were:
1. Kite Festival
2. Tote Bags
3. Coloring Book
4. Skunk Story (illustrated by Mrs. Coppolla)
5. Mug and Muffin Day, October, 1992
6. Jigsaw Puzzle
7. Fall Harvest Festival
C. Logo
Discussion was held on how we control the use of our logo.
D. Jubileve Update
1. Steve Chuha, Reading Realtors, say they will run or
sponsor an event.
2. Rick Nelson, Downeast Revival, would like to
participate.
3. Wally Arsenal, Harrows, may do a Chicken Barbecue.
E. Book
Donning Press, Virginia Beach has produced at least 3 local
pictorial histories. They are:
1. Nashua, NH (1989) - under 200 pages, funded by a bank
2. Lynn, MA - Funded by a no interest loan from a bank
backed by the Historical Society. Under 200 pages;
3000 printed, 1000 sold fast, others eventually, and
they are now doing a second printing. The book sold
for $33.50.
3. Danvers, MA - Funded by bank, no interest loan, and
backed by the Historical Society. 176 pages, cost
$23,000 to print 2000 copies which sold for $32 each
(10% for advance sales). They earned enough money
to publish two more books.
Perhaps we should reduce the 350 page goal we now have to
under 200 pages. Should we have a gift box or a sleeve?
Would our Antiquarian Society be interested in backing the
book?
