August 18, 1992 At the meeting of the Board of Directors held on August 18, 1992, it was voted: To accept the minutes of the meeting of July 21, 1992; To approve the revised contracts for the McKinley/Symphony composition and to expend $1,250 for execution of the contract; That all Steering Committee Members become Directors of Reading's 350th Inc.; To order four dozen adult small and medium sweatshirts (2 dozen each); To order three dozen tote bags. The next meeting of Reading's 350th, Inc. will tentatively be held September 22, 1992, Tuesday, at 8:00 p.m. in the Berger Room, Reading Town Hall. The Steering Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. Adjourned. A true test. Attest: Susan A. August 18, 1992 The Minutes of READING's 350th, Inc. August 18, 1992, Tuesday 7:00 P.M. Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Directors in Attendance: Paul Sweeney, President Shirley Buzderewicz, Treasurer Other Directors: Anna Carroll Alan Foulds Kenneth Latham Susan Theophanis Nancy Smethurst I. CALL TO ORDER Paul Sweeney called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS Susan Horn, Clerk It was voted to accept the July 21, 1992 minutes. III. COMMUNICATIONS Susan Theophanis reviewed her conversations with Mr. James McCul- lough of the Massachusetts Cultural Council of Boston and with Alice Collins of the Reading Arts Lottery Council regarding pos- sible funding grants for the 350th music and book. Applications are due in the fall for consideration. IV. OTHER BUSINESS A. McKinley/RSO Contracts Paul Sweeney read the revised contracts and it was voted to ac- cept these revised contracts and to pay $1,250 for the execution of same. The contract signing should be considered a photo op- portunity for publicity purposes. B. Board of Directors It was moved and voted that all members of the Steering Committee become directors of the 350th Inc. by virtue of their office. On the liability issue, Ken Latham will investigate the cost of insurance for the directors of the corporation as he feels they could be subject to the same risk as the corporation in the event of a lawsuit. BUSINESS UPDATE Shirley Buzderewicz brought in samples and reported on the Town of Kingston, New Hampshire which sells a coloring book and other souvenirs in the Town Hall. It was voted to purchase 2 dozen adult small and 2 dozen adult medium sweatshirts as well as 3 dozen tote bags at respective costs of $10.50 and $6.50 each. No decision was reached as to the price to be set for the tote bags, but it was agreed to charge the same amount as the Friends of Reading Library ask for their logo tote bag. Alan Foulds presented an idea of holding a first day of school coffee with 350th mugs for sale, etc. It was agreed that Alan would investigate the feasibility of this idea and proceed if he felt it worthwhile. VI. NEXT MEETING (tentative date) September 22, 1992 Tuesday 8:00 P.M. Berger Room, Reading Town Hall (The Steering Committee will also meet that evening at 7:30 p.m.) VII.
