Conference Room, Reading Town Hall Committee Members in Attendance: Alan Foulds, Chairman, Paul Sweeney, Susan Theophanis, Shirley Buzderewicz, Nancy Smethurst, Everett Blodgett, Mary Williams, and Catherine Quimby. Also Attending: Anna Carroll, Director of 350th, Inc., Artie Rice, and JoAnne Sucher. I. CALL TO ORDER Alan Foulds called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS The minutes of the February 16, 1993 meeting were read and ac- cepted as read. III. COMMUNICATIONS An invitation was received for the 350th Anniversary of Middlesex County celebration to be held in May. Understanding Handicaps will prepare a float for the parade and has offered to sponsor an act at Jubileve. Bruce Morang will tell "cracker-barrel type" stories for adults at Jubileve. IV. OTHER BUSINESS A. Sub-Committee Reports The Book Committee plans to have a brochure available by April 24th for pre-publication sales. A pre-publication price of $25 plus shipping was voted for orders placed on or before October 1, 1993. Following that date, the price will be $30 plus shipping. The publication price is approximately $25,000 for 1500 books. The cover design has been chosen and the size of the book will be 8-1/2 x 11 inches. READING'S 350th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION STEERING COMMITTEE TOWN HAUL Q, 16 ,O PTT STREET ~ READING, Mild 01967-2550 Page 2 Reading's 350th Steering Committee March 16, 1993 Alan appointed Paul Sweeney, Everett Blodgett and himself to a sub-committee to interview potential grantors of an interest-free loan to fund the book publication. Shirley will also serve on this committee as a consultant for the financial considerations. This subcommittee will explore all offers of funds for the book and will arrange for contracts to be signed' as necessary to procure funding. The Parade Committee has a volunteer who has offered to serve as liaison to any military groups. The Parade Committee needs to know how much money is available so they can plan their budget. B. Fund Raising New ideas of decals and license plates were briefly discussed. Shirley also mentioned that she had requests for commemorative plates such as the small Pairpoint Glass cup plates. The poster with pen and ink designs by Bob McCaffrey is being printed. Ideas for our participation in Summerfest were requested. V. NEXT MEETING - April 27, 1993 Tuesday, 7:30 P.M. VI. CALL TO ORDER Paul Sweeney called the meeting to order at 9:00 p.m. II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS Minutes of the February 23, 1993 Annual Meeting were read and accepted as amended. The Treasurer reported the cash balance as of 3-15-93 was $12,481.20, and the report was accepted as presented. III. OTHER BUSINESS A. Fund Raising The fund-raising solicitation letter drafted by Alan Foulds was discussed in detail and several modifications were approved. A proposal submitted by Ed Palmer for fund raising this summer ,wherein he would keep a percentage was discussed. No action was taken as this proposal was subject to cancellation of the Aladdin presentation and a contract with A.C. Hill productions was presently in effect. It was agreed to obtain a booth at the Boosters Craft Fair on April 3, 1993, and to proceed with the Mug & Muffin event at the Senior Center on April 24, 1993.
