Berger Room, Reading Town Hall Committee Members in Attendance: Alan Foulds, Chairman, Paul Sweeney, Susan Theophanis, Nancy Smethurst, Everett Blodgett, Ellen Stanton, and Mary Williams, who arrived later. Also Attending: Anna Carroll, Director of 350th, Inc., and Alice Collins of the Reading Arts Council I. CALL TO ORDER Alan Foulds called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS The minutes of the March 16, 1993 meeting were accepted as read, and the minutes of the April 27, 1993 meeting were accepted as amended.. III. COMMUNICATIONS Responses have been received from several fireworks companies regarding the request for proposals. Alice Collins invited the Committee to attend the Arts Council Meeting on May 24th. Bruce Morang will be the guest speaker and will give helpful hints on getting publicity for organizations. IV. OTHER BUSINESS A. Sub-Committee Reports The Book Committee reported sales of about 100 books to date. Ray Couture will be asked to review the legal aspects of the financing agreements. A marketing plan for the book is necessary and our newest committee member, Ellen Stanton will work in this area. ' Susan Theophanis substituted for Cathy Quimby and spoke to the senior citizens at "Cracker-barrel." Susan found the audience very enthusiastic and willing to volunteer. (continued) READING'S 360th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION STEELING COMMITTEE TOWN I-TALL d 16 LOWELL STREET ~ READING, A 01967-2550 Page 2 Reading's 350th Steering Committee May 18, 1993 Anna Carroll has had contact with people who would offer to face paint at the Jubileve and she will investigate their offers in more detail. Jack Cairl has offered to perform an historical skit, similar to the one that was performed for area groups several years ago by Jack and other Unitarian Church members. The Ball Committee will meet and review various places to hold the ball such as the Library, Camp Curtis Guild and Meadow Brook Country Club. Budgets and plans are needed for the various subcommittees so that these groups will know how much money is available to be ex- pended on each event. Mary Williams reported that three articles will appear in the next "Reading Notes" section of the Suburban News. V. NEXT MEETING - June 15, 1993 Tuesday, 7:30 P.M. VI. CALL TO ORDER Paul Sweeney called the meeting to order at 9:50 p.m. II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS - Minutes of the March 16 and April 27, 1993 meetings were approved as read. There was no Treasurer's report. III. OTHER BUSINESS A. Fund Raising Mary Williams reported that the Make Your Own Sundae fund raiser will not be pursued for this June. A tentative schedule was arranged for the volunteers needed to staff the 350th Information Booth on the second and fourth Satur- day of each month from 9 to 1. The fund raising solicitation letters are still in progress. IV. NEXT MEETING June 15, 1993 Tuesday (The Steering Committee will also meet that evening at 7:30 p.m.) V.
