IV. OTHER BUSINESS
Ecumenical service
The Reading Clergy Association presented an idea for a January
ecumenical event to begin the 350th Anniversary year: Yesterday,
Today and Tomorrow--a Celebration of God's faithfulness. The
event would be held at Reading High School auditorium in the late
afternoon and would be held in place of the usual twelfth night
celebration. According to Mr. Wallett, the underlying theme of
this event would be to uplift the community in the spirit of the
founding of the country. On motion of Susan Theophanis, it was
voted to accept the Reading Clergy Association's proposal to
conduct their ecumenical 350th celebration in January.
Quannapowitt Players
Alan reported that the Quannapowitt Players will not be
performing "Reading Yesterdays," but that they want to perform
during Jubileve. Harold Bond, speaking for the Players, offered
to put on "Love Letters" in January as a fund raiser for the
350th. On motion of Shirley Buzderewicz, it was voted to accept
the offer of the Quannapowitt Players. Alan will contact Harold
Bond for further details.
Lecture Series
Frank Kyle, a lecturer, in conjunction with several other
speakers, would like to present a daytime program on a volunteer
basis. On motion of Shirley Buzderewicz it was voted to accept
Mr. Kyle's offer.
`Y Data File
Setting up a data file to keep track of all volunteers has become
a necessity. A volunteer application form would also be useful.
Committee liaisons will bring a list of their donors and
volunteers to the next meeting for inclusion in a data base.
Information to be included in the data base will be decided at
that time.
Lions Club
Paul and Alan visited with the Lions Club. The Lions plan to
donate up to $2,000 in total to the 350th, $1000 of which was
raised at Summerfest 193 and $1000 which is expected to be raised
on Reading Day, 1994. The Lions inquired as to the feasibility
of being the exclusive vendor for sausage and slush on Reading
Day. Alan and Paul offered to bring this before the Steering
Committee and report back to the Lions. The Selectmen will
discuss vendor issues at their meeting on January 18, 1994. John
Shaw reported that the first $1000 was voted under his term as
Lions President, and that the Lions will vote at their next
meeting and make definite sponsorship commitments by the first of
the year so that the Parade Committee can hire bands, etc.
Budget
Alan asked all liaisons to come up with their estimated total
budgets by the January 25th meeting. Any revenues expected to be
generated by scheduled events should also be included in the
budget projections. Also, Shirley was asked to prepared an
analysis of pledges and receipts to date and their specified
allocations. She was also asked to analyze the book budget by
January 11 when the number of books to be ordered will be
discussed.

Thursday night and Bob Batchelder will attend. The Garden Club
and a caterer have been contacted for input as well. A wooden

might not be affordable. Laurie Hillyard is the current chairman
of the Ball Committee.

reported that the Christmas gift card is being worked on. A
space for book distribution and storage has been offered by the
