if necessary. The Chamber of Commerce newsletter prematurely
mentioned red, white and blue bunting for building decoration as
well as possible sporting/crafts events in the food court area
during Jubileve. These items have not yet been approved.
An official from Reading, England replied to our letter of
invitation and requested a fax when our program was final.
Everett Blodgett reported a map is being produced by Community
Graphics and will be distributed free of charge through several
sponsoring businesses. It was unclear if this map has any 350th
focus or is similar to the usual ones previously available.
Alan reported that Maurice Donegan from North Reading is finding
it difficult to sell At Wood End in North Reading because of its
heavy emphasis on Reading.
Paul Sweeney reported an offer from Summerfest to donate a
percentage of carnival ride proceeds in return for staffing. No
action was taken on this offer at the present time.
Mary Williams reported that Joshua Eaton school is having a
birthday party for Joshua Eaton on May 31 and Parker Middle
School is having an all day event on June 2. On motion of Mary
Williams, it was voted to accept Parker's June 2 event as an
official part of the 350th celebration.
Liquor Liability
On motion of Mary Williams, it was voted that Alan write to the
Town Manager requesting that a certificate of insurance be
obtained to cover the Town and Committee members for any excess
liability during the celebration, especially for the serving of
liquor.
Budgets
on motion of Everett Blodgett, it was voted that the Anniversary
Ball Committee receive $2,000 from the Steering committee as
previously voted, and that any additional expenses be funded
through the sale of ball tickets or donations with the maximum
total budget not to exceed $18,000.
On motion of Shirley Buzderewicz, it was voted that the Steering
Committee must approve the price of tickets for all events and
projects.
Bunting on Town Buildings
It was reported that the Town Manager is in favor of decorating
Town buildings with purple and white bunting. The Committee will
discuss costs and sources of funding at a later date.
Parade Grand Marshal
Discussion will be delayed until Cathy can be present.

Jubileve Budget
Anna presented the proposed Jubileve budget. Jubileve will be
held rain or shine because many events will be held indoors. On
motion of Everett Blodgett, it was voted to approve the Jubileve
budget as presented. On motion of Ellen Stanton, it was voted
that admission buttons will be sold in advance for $3.50 each and
for $5.00 each beginning May 29. The next Jubileve meeting
scheduled for February 24 will be a button-making party and photo
opportunity.
Reading Day
Reading Day plans will be discussed at the next meeting.
souvenir Program
Mary presented a quote from Sir Speedy for a souvenir program.
Questions arose as to who would solicit advertising and whether
or not there is competition from the Chronicle's special edition.
Mary will contact the person who did the layout for the Boosters
Club publication to see if she will volunteer to help on this
project. More discussion on the souvenir program will be held on
March 3.
Raffle
Alan Horvath has volunteered to look into providing plane tickets
to Reading, England as a raffle prize. The consensus was to have
Mr. Horvath gather more information, but at no cost to the
Committee.

Children's History Booklet
The question of whether or not to reprint "How Reading Grew Up"
was discussed. Action was postponed to a later date.
