I. CALL TO ORDER
Alan Foulds called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS
Minutes were distributed but any action on them was delayed until
the next meeting.
III. COMMUNICATIONS
On motion of Everett Blodgett it was voted that Reading's 350th
Inc. expend not more than $150 to provide 4000 6-3/4 envelopes to
Ann Tisdell who will affix stamps and produce a cachet envelope;
a percentage of her profits, as determined by the 350th Chairman,
will be returned to Reading's 350th Inc.
Dick Ianetti and Ken McKinnon offered to donate to Reading's
350th Inc. all proceeds from opening Meadowbrook Golf Club
facilities to the public, rain or shine, on Monday, June 13. On
motion of Shirley Buzderewicz, seconded by Everett Blodgett, it
was voted to accept their generous offer.
Elsie J. Libby Welch, RHS Class of 144, has volunteered to help
with the celebration in any capacity necessary.
IV. OTHER BUSINESS
Reading Day
Paul had a walk-through with the Fire Chief and the
pyrotechnician last week. Dave Bunten has determined that the
present sound system is not adequate and a larger one is
required. Paul reported that an additional $525 for sound and
lighting may need to be added to his present budget, but he will

advise the Committee at a later date. Mary will converse with
the Recreation Committee about their June 10th tennis start date.
Paul mentioned the need for a temporary snow fence for fireworks
safety requirements and the need for security for rented
equipment.
Jubileve
Anna has responses from 25 performers, of which 6 are asking for
money. The consensus of the Committee was to instruct the
Jubileve Sub-Committee not to pay performers, but perhaps to
offer a stipend of $50 or less if income from button sales
permits.
Other
Susan reported Cable TV will produce videos of the events and
then combine segments of each into one. Mary showed the
Committee a copy of the reprinted "How Reading Grew Up," and its
purple cover was deemed appropriate. Anna reported an offer from
a photographer to raffle a portrait package worth approximately
$200. The Committee would accept this offer if the photographer
will handle all the arrangements.
Budget Review
We are pretty much on target to date, with assets to cover our
projected expenses.
Opening Ceremonies
Ken Latham will replace Clark Booth and the program order will be
re-arranged. There will be a reception on May 28, the night
before the opening ceremonies, at Le Metro Cafe for visitors from
the other Readings. Alan suggested that all former Committee
members be formally invited to the Opening ceremonies, and a
letter will be sent to each of them.
May Day
Mary requested a budget for mylar balloons and printing of
American Music Chorus free tickets. On motion of Susan
Theophanis, it was voted to allocate $50 for the May Day budget.
Field Day
Everett reported that the YMCA is willing to write press
releases, but the consensus was that the Committee should reserve
the right to approve them before publication. Reservations
should be made for the Field House in case of rain on Field Day.
The YMCA estimates that 2,000 - 5,000 people may attend.
V. NEXT MEETING(S) - 7:30 p.m., April 26, 1994
VI. ADJOURNMENT - Alan Foulds adjourned meeting at 10:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy L. Smethurst, Secretary Pro Tem
