Photographs
Bill McLaughlin, the official photographer, has suggested
offering the photos to the public at a designated time for
purchase of reprints, and he has volunteered to handle all the
transactions during that specific time which would be arranged.
On motion of Cathy Quimby, it was voted to accept Bill and Rose
McLaughlin's offer and to allow them to take prepaid orders from
the public for reprints (at cost) of a variety of official 350th
photos.
On motion of Everett Blodgett, it was voted to give custody of
the negatives and prints of the official 350th photographs,
following the final report, to the Historical commission for
archival purposes, and to include reimbursement for any costs of
materials necessary for proper storage and preservation.
Town Flag
The State has requested that every town present a flag for the
newly-renovated State House. Cathy Quimby showed the Committee a
Town of Reading flag produced by Flags for All Seasons at a cost
of $425, and she suggested that the 350th Committee should
purchase this flag as a gift. On motion of Mary Williams,
seconded by Shirley Buzderewicz, it was voted that the 350th
Committee purchase this flag at a cost of $425 and donate it to
the Town of Reading for display at the State House Hall of Flags.
Proposals for Funds
Alan has received a number of written proposals concerning
disbursement of the profits. These proposals will be copied and
distributed to the Committee prior to further discussion,
although Alan briefly outlined a few he had received. Anna
Carroll reported she had investigated the idea of having a First
Night celebration, and had suggested this idea to AFPAR
(Association for the Fine and Performing Arts in Reading). She
is also considering another small scale event, but will not be
requesting 350th funds.
At Wood End
Everett reported that he has 1123 books (62 boxes) being held for
delivery. There are names on a waiting list for about 200
copies. Everett distributed copies of a proposal from the 350th
Book Committee. Much discussion regarding trust funds in general
and the sales of these additional books followed, but specifics
will be deferred until a later meeting when Beth Klepeis/and or
the Town Manager can attend and answer questions.
