Tuesday, February 23, 1993 (Annual Meeting) Town Hall Conference Room Directors in Attendance: Paul Sweeney, President Shirley Buzderewicz, Treasurer Other Directors: Anna Carroll, Alan Foulds, Nancy Smethurst, Catherine Quimby, Everett Blodgett I. CALL TO ORDER Paul Sweeney called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. II. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS - Minutes of the January 19, 1993 meeting were read and accepted as read. The minutes of the October 20, 1992 meeting will be reviewed at the next meeting. The Treasurer reported the cash balance as of 2-8-93 was $12,176.12. III. OTHER BUSINESS A. Election of Officers Paul Sweeney reported a letter of resignation had been received from Susan Horn, Clerk of the Corporation. The Town Moderator, Paul Dustin, will make an appointment to replace her on the Steering Committee. Motions were made and seconded to re-elect. Paul Sweeney as President, Susan Theophanis as Vice-President and Shirley Buzderewicz as Treasurer for another term. These motions were approved by a vote of the directors with no opposition. The position of Clerk of the Corporation was left vacant pending the appointment of Susan Horn's replacement by the Moderator. A mo- tion was then made and seconded to re-elect all current directors of the corporation for another term. This motion was voted in the affirmative and Anna Carroll, Ken Latham, Mary Williams, Everett Blodgett, Alan Foulds, Paul Sweeney, Shirley Buzderewicz,' Susan Theophanis, Cathy Quimby and Nancy Smethurst were re- elected as directors of the corporation. Fund Raising Another "Mugs and Muffins" Day was discussed. It was tentatively agreed to hold this popular event at the new Senior Citizens cen- ter on April 24, 1993. Subcommittees will be represented to ac- quaint the citizens with the plans for 1994 and to request volun- teers to help. The Grand Opening of the 350th Information Booth on Haven Street is planned for April 3, 1993. More details will be discussed at the next meeting of the Corporation. The members of the corporation voted to authorize its officers to sign a contract with Allan C. Hill Productions for the fund- raising performances of Aladdin on Mother's Day, May 9, 1993 (not Monday, May 10, as Town Meeting will be in session at that time). Everett Blodgett reported that the Antiquarian Society will allow us to sell 350th merchandise at their June 10, 1993 open house celebration. The fund-raising solicitation letter drafted by Alan Foulds will be discussed in more detail at the next meeting, although the general concept of the letter has been affirmatively voted. C. Other It was voted to advance an additional $250 to the Book Committee for their expenses. Cathy Quimby has been in contact with Bob McCaffrey regarding the timeframe on the printing of 1000 posters which the committee authorized him to design last fall. IV. NEXT MEETING March 16, 1993 Tuesday Conference Room, Reading Town Hall (The Steering Committee will also meet that evening at 7:30 p.m.) V.
