Present at the meeting were Chair James Nugent, Vice Chair Cathy Baranofsky and member Bill Murphy, staff Ruth Cogan. The Board discussed their meeting with the Town Manager that af- ternoon. They noted that he was not comfortable that he would be able to fund the Public Health Nurse in FY94 and that was why no nurse had been hired yet. He will decide by February 16. Minutes of December 10, 1992 were approved as submitted 3:0:0. The Preliminary Subdivision Annette Lane was withdrawn by the ap- plicant. Proposed non-smoking policy for new Senior Center - Lois Bond, Elder Services Director, came to discuss a proposed non-smoking policy for Senior Center. She noted that many seniors do not want smoking in the Center due to oxygen that is used by some and respiratory illnesses that many have. She said that in the present Center smoking is allowed in the card room but that the smoke infiltrates to the other areas. 3-6 people smoke presently in the area before lunch, but their smoke makes that area un- usable for many people. This was a primary issue at the Cedar Glen meeting and she feels that the majority of the seniors do not want smoking. The Board thanked her for her input. Old business - FY94 budget will be discussed at the January 26 Selectmen's meeting. New business - Cogan noted that the Board needed to adopt the state regulations for tanning. Presently, the state statute was being used locally as the state regulations had not been promul- gated at the time. A public hearing will be held at the next meeting. A new Animal Control Officer has been hired by the Town, Susan Tapley. The Board voted 3:0:0 to appoint Susan Tapley as an Animal Inspector, replacing Regina Benoit. The meeting adjourned at 5:40 pm Respectfully submitted, t Ruth . Cogan, M H Director
