HomeMy WebLinkAbout1994-04-07 Board of Health MinutesMinutes April 7, 1994 The Board of Health meeting came to order at 5:25 pm in the Berger Room of Town Hall. Present at the meeting were Chair Cathy Baranofsky, Vice Chair Bill Murphy, staff Ruth Cogan and guest Brad Latham. Preliminary Subdivision Beacon Street - A brief presentation was made by Brad Latham. A motion was made by Murphy, seconded by Baranofsky to approve the plan with the following conditions: 1) Deep observation holes be dug in the spring witnessed by an agent of the Board of Health. Minimum cellar floor elevations are to be two feet above high groundwater levels. 2) The water service is to be tied into Grandview if possible, i.e., if there is no ledge, the grades are acceptable. Motion passed 2:0:0. The minutes of March 10 were passed 2:0:0. Baranofsky and Murphy both signed the pledge for the Drug Free Weekend. Cogan gave an update on a recent incident of a manager of Cumber- land Farms smoking in the store. She presented a timeline of past incidents and enforcement since 1990. The Board instructed Cogan to set up a hearing to discuss the suspension of the retail food and milk licenses of Cumberland Farms for May 3, 1994. Cogan gave an update on the activities of the Tobacco Control Program. She had met with Lt. Silva of the Police Dept and set up a compliance monitoring program for all businesses which sell cigarettes over the counter or through vending machines. Murphy had taught the chokesaver course to 21 Reading restaurant employees the past week. The Board thanked him for his efforts and work. Meeting adjourned at 6:00 pm Respectfully submitted, Ruth L.
