Members Present: W. Hughes, C. Copeland, C. Rybicki, J. Donovan, J. Fallon, F.Fotino,
G. Shannon
The minutes from the May meeti-nZ were accepted as is.
W. Hughes introduced Claire Shea to the committee. (Recording Sec.)
W. Hughes announced that Mr. White and Mr. Moscarello would not be attending the meeting,
and in their place would be Kathy Carley, representing a group of Reading citizens with
cuestions concerning pool hours for free swim.
Correspondence
A letter was received from Petra Corboy, (Reading resident), requesting permission to use
the facilities at Washington Park for a family softball game on July 4th from 12 noon until
3 P.M. A motion was made by F. Fotino to approve the request, and seconded by J. Donovan.
Vote was 4 to 1 in favor.
`-,letter was received from Zarry Millett concerning an injury on Morton Field.
A letter was received from the school committee approving facilities reservations.
Reading Citizen - pool free swim hours
Kathy Carley representing a group of Reading Citizens, questioned pool rules concerning
free swim for children under 8 years of age. The committee agreed to change the hours
from 5 P.M. to 8.to 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., with the provisal that a study would be made and
evaluated by the 2nd Wednesday in July,(July 8th). J. Fallon made a motion to change
the hours and G. Donovan seconded it. The vote was 5 - 0.
Pool preparation
It has been reported by Chris Copeland that the pool should be inspected on Friday, June
12, and hopefully opened by June 15th. The filtration plant is working. A diving board
is still needed and the D.P.W. will be leveling concrete in the fall.
Also reported was that Reading High students recently threw glass viles into the pool,
breaking them. Glass has been removed and Chris Copeland has spoken to Dr. Piechota,
(Principal), and the Science department head.
Cpen swim hours will be maintained from 8 A.M. to 8:30 A.M.
Summer Program Registration
registration was held on May 30th and approximately 69000.00 was taken in. Girls basket-
ball clinics seem to be the only area not well attended. It was suggested there by more
publicity in that area, perhaps through high school coaches.

on August 9th and 23rd. Hours will be from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M. Place to be announced.
Monies available are 32000.00 Publicity will be handled by J. Connelly.
Old Business
There was a discussion concerning the xaercise Trail.
The use.of the Lions Club gift of X3000.00 has not been decided.
The junior class from R.M.H.S. have cancelled their pool party.
Theatre in The Green
There are two dates still open, weeks 3 and 6.
A field day is a possibility.
New Business
The recreation department will be supervising 2 weekend Tennis Tournaments. One, being
the weekend of June 20th and the other June 27th. (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
A request was rude to update the pool rules.
