Warnock , soconded by Ms. Kathy pyoi.^.K', to approve the Minutes of the Octooec 12 meeting. The vote was unanimous. Bill Coldeway - Community Playground Advocates of t^e Community Playgrouna participated in a lengthy discussion with the Recreation Committee concerning the site installation of the Tot Lot Playground. Two sites are under consideration, being Memorial Park and Higgins property at Birch Meaaow. The playground committee opted for the use of Memorial Park. 4 Mr. Fallon moved to recommend the Higgins property as the site selection. Kathy Rybicki seconded the motion. The vote was 3 opposed, one affirmative and 3 abstentions. (the yes vote was cast cy Mr. J.Fallon, opposed by Mr. L Wac nocK , Ns. K. Ryc i ck i , ana Xv. Wm, Hughes. Those abstaining were Mr. J. Connelly, Mr. R. Fotino ana Ms. K. Kaminar, following further discussion - Mc. Warnock moved tc call for a public meeting to determine the Tot Lot site. The meeting will be held on either Novemoer 29 or 00 at a site to be named, to gather input from interested Reading residents concerning the site selection. Mr. D. Fotino seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous. i`;emoers of the recreation committee will have an enlarged map of each proposed locations at this meeting. Camille Visconti, Proposal for a Sailing Program, Summer, 1989 A motion was made by Mr. John Fallon, seconded by Mr. L. WarnOCK to approve the proposal presented by Camille Visconti to con a :jai 1 ing Program, summer, 1989. Mr. Falion's motion asKea to include funds in FY90 Budget to cover the costs, subject to the approval of the Finance Committee and Human Services Department. The vote was unanimous, john Parsons - Field House use Tab lea Buaq, Ruth Cogan Ruth Cogan, Director of Human Services appeared before the committee, Isis. Cogan indicated that there would be very littie,changes if any in the Recreation Budget FY90. She also indicates that a full time Secretary would soon be available for the Recreation Supervisors use. She further stated a recommendation to hire a Recreation Supervisor on a full time scale is fourth coming. Mr. Larry Warnock mace a motion to accept the amended budget as proposed. Mr. Dick Fotino seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. 6 Cocresponaence Letters received - From Richard and Petra Conboy regarding baseball practices at Washington Park, requesting practices be moved to another field for safety sake. Attached with letter was a list of concerned neighoors, who support the request. Thank you letter from Our Lady of Nazareth Academy for use of the Pearl Street School Field. Class lists for Spinning Wheel programs. Cope of a letter sent to Town Manager regarding youth cancel, from the V.F.W.. Committee memoers recommended the Teen Suo Committee correspono with the V.F.W. K. i?ybicki moved to accept recommendations from the i'iaster ParK Plan Committee. Mr. J. Connelly seconoec the motion. The vote was unanimous. The recommendations are: 1) Batchelder Field-utility soccer field, softball/baseball diamond, tot lot, and parking lot proposal. 1990 2) Higgins Property-tot lot proposal. (possibly funded by donations ) 3) Hunt Memorial Park-backstop height increase and hood proposal. 4) Birch Meadow-wading pool proposal. 5) Glen Meadow park & Sturges park-sprinklers with timers. 6) Castine/Birch Meadow tennis courts-light improvement (cleaning?) proposal. 7) Parking Lot "C" /Street "B" fields-light installation proposal. 8) Coolidge Middle school-2 sets of portable bleachers proposal and "A" Lighted field-1 set of portable bleachers 9) Joshua Eaton elementary school- two (2).players' benches proposal. 10) Leach park-tot lot 11) Enclosed pool complex 12) Morton field lighting There being no further business, Mr. Fotino moved to adjourn the meeting at 10:40 P.M.
