HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-09-12 Recreation Committee MinutesD~Jr Recreation Minutes September 12, 1990 A meeting of the Recreation Committee was called to order by Chairman John Fallon at 7:40p.m.. Present were committee members R. Fotino, J. Pacino, M. Williams, F. Conover & J. Connelly also associate member J. Mullen. T. McGrath arrived 8:00. A motion to approve the minutes of the August 8, 1990 was made by J. Pacino, seconded by R. Fotino. Approved 4=0-2 Connelly, Con- over abstained The Supervisor's Report was discussed with a few changes sug- gested. Mr. Pacino complimented Ms. Wexler on such a complete report. CITIZEN INPUT- Jon Asgeirsson of the Woburn City Band suggested a date of Novem- ber 4 for the Fall Concert. Much discussion followed. F. Con- over motioned for the concert to be held at either Eaton or Parker Jr. High on November 4 at 7:00p.m. Seconded by M. Wil- liams - unanimous vote 6-0 It was also suggested PTO be con- tacted to possibly serve refreshments as a fundraiser. SUMMER EVALUATIONS Ms. Wexler discussed the different programs and answered ques- tions pertaining to Water Aerobics, Golf League and Swim Lessons; also concerns on pool maintenance. TEEN CENTER R. Fotino gave an update on the Teen Center Sub Committee' s progress. All the pros and cons of the program were discussed. F. Conover made a motion to propose a short term trial period to start whenever facility is available. It would be run through the revolving fund. 5-0 unanimous NEW BUSINESS a. Ms. Wexler discussed the possibility of a season pool pass. b. Ms Wexler stated she had met with Supertindent Munnelly who agreed no custodial fees would be charged if held during the week for current programs, also as long as everything is left spotless. Weekend programs would be assessed a fee. C. New Programs Proposed 1 1. Ms. Wexler proposed a Motion to Music Program for the elderly - held at Pearl St. School - 1 hour a week, with fees going to Revolving Fund - $1.25 pay as you go. R. Fotino moved to accept program - seconded J. Conelly 5-0 unanimous. 2. Adult Co-ed Volleyball - limit 18 fee $24.00 J. Connelly motioned as proposed, seconded R. Fotino 5-0 unanimous 3. Early Release Program Session I - all set up - there will be a bus from each Middle School. Ms Wexler and another paid supervisor will accompany the children plus parent volunteers will be needed. It will be run through the revolving. account. Cost to be determined by supervisor. Passed 5-0 . 4. After School Programs A motion was made to approve by J. Connelly, seconded by ? 5-0 unanimous A request by Ed Leydon for a Girl's Basketball Camp on some Sun- day in November. A motion to O.K. application. Passed 5-0 Motion to adjourn - 11:15p.m. _ Y 2
