A meeting of the Recreation Committee was called to order by
Chairman J. Fallon at 7:34p.m. In attendance were Committee Mem-
bers, C. Kaminer, C. Swymer, R Fotino, F. Conover, T McGrath,
also associate members J. Mullen, S. Sullivan & L Salter. M.
Williams arrived at 8:20. R. Cogan, Director of Human Services
and L Wexler, Recreation Supervisor were also in attendance.
Ms. Wexler discussed the Supervisor's Report stating the November
Sunday Concert featuring the Woburn City Band was a great suc-
cess. Also the sign up for Sunday Basketball was very success-
ful.
R. Cogan passed out a new budget she had prepared after talking
with Peter H. She explained this budget showed the General Fund
with only the Supervisor's salary, office supplies and mileage.
The Revolving Fund had all the programs. Surplus from the
Revolving Fund would be transferred a couple of times a year,
leaving a few thousand dollars always in the Revolving Fund for
start up programs. Many questions were asked regarding the
legality. Ms. Cogan stated she would ask for a ruling from Town
Counsel before next meeting. Questions were also asked about how
the Supervisor's position could be increased to 3/4 time. Ms.
Cogan stated it would not be increased . Mr. Fallon commented
the wrestling clinic was losing money due to the custodial fees.
He would talk with Tom Darrin about running it in morning or as a
15% clinic. Also discussed were the Light Department bills for
the fields. A meeting with DPW, Ms Wexler, P Hechenbleikner was
scheduled for November 19 concerning the fees.
Mr. Fallon stated there would be $310. coming back from the
cherry sheets . Also discussed was Spinning Wheels and whether
to continue funding $4200.. It was decided to ask Mr. Billilies
to make a presentation at the December meeting.
Ms Kaminer made a motion to increase the Supervisor's Position
from .6 to .75 time position. D. Fotino seconded - unanimous
Ms. Cogan stated she would attach a memo to the budget with the
Recreation Committee's recommendation.
NEW BUSINESS
Ms Williams suggested a Before School Sports program but had just
found out most of the schools already had one except Eaton.
Ms Williams moved to adjourn at 10:00 - Unanimous.
