HomeMy WebLinkAbout1991-04-10 Recreation Committee MinutesMINUTES, APRIL 10,1991 RECREATION COMMITTEE A meeting of the Recreation committee was called to order by Vice Chair C. Kaminer. In attendance were committee members C. Swymer, J. Connelly, J. Giordano, F. Conover, T. McGrath, as- sociate members S. Sullivan & J. Mullen at 7:55. Citizen Marty McWilliams was also present. A motion by J. Giordano to accept minutes of the March 13, 1991 was seconded by C. Swymer. unanimous approval. L. Wexler discussed the Supervisor's Report stating mail in registrations for summer programs were going well. Open Rec was extended for one month with the monies to go into the Revolving Fund to help fund the concerts. Also the Reading Arts Council Grant Application had gone well. J. Giordano went over the proposed Rules & Regsulations stating he, L Wexler, K Kaminer & J. Mullen had based them on current regulations and regulations from other towns. Minor changes were made after going over each rule. Discussion followed on the closing times of the parks. It was decided to close all parks at-&'l except lighted fields. Also suggested was to send a letter to the Police Dept in response to their letter (see enclosed) stat- ing that responsibilities had not been increased, enforcement has been on books since 1972. F. Conover motioned to accept the R&R as amended. C. Kaminer seconded 6-0-0.. The Rules & Regs will be given to Peter Hechenbleikner to submit to the Selectmen. Also discussed was a method of payment for permit fees for teams. Old Business C. Swymer stated Eaton field's first base needed to be filled in. There has been nothing new on a pool pass. L. Wexler stated Recreation will be responsible for open and closing pool for FY92. DPW will open it FY91. New Business On April 23 at the Selectmen's meeting a donation of $1,000,000 will be offered for a indoor hockey facility. J. Giordano suggested as a follow up to the R&R that every recreational facility have their own rules. A motion by J. Con- nelly to form a subcommittee to draft individual R&R for each 1 facility. Seconded by J. Giordano. Volunteering for the Com- mittee J. Giordano, C. Kaminer, J. Mullen assoc member S. Sul- livan. J. Connelly discussed the possibility of a summer basketball program. After much discussion J. Connelly made a motion to be allowed to pursue a summer basketball program at the field house, Monday & Wednesdays for grades 9-12. F. Conover seconded. passed 6-0 J. Giordano motioned to adjourn at 9:00 2
