MINUTES OF MEETING
DATE: August 6, 1986
PLACE: Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town Hall, Reading, MA.

Following the evenings scheduled hearings, Board members spent
approximately one hour reviewing final draft document of
"Instructions" to be attached to Application for Hearing.
This instruction sheet was compiled in an effort to assist
residents. making application to the Board of Appeals.
Mr-. Tucker had incorporated the various previously approved
Tlanguage into.this-final draft document for the Board's review
and approval.
Members reviewed instruction sheet, section by section and made
several minor language changes which they felt necessary for
clarification purposes.
It was also agreed, after discussion, that fee should be increased
to $90.00 which members felt was necessary if the Board is to
maintain level funding.
After total review, motion was made, seconded and unanimously;
VOTED: That "Application for Hearing and "Instructions",
herewith attached and made a part'of these minutes,
be approved as written.
Members requested the Chairman to forward these
documents to the Town Manager for approval by the
Board of Selectmen as quickly as possible.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.

INSTRUCTIONS
Everv-application must be 'made on the official application form
available throuah J.he Town Clerk or Building Inspector. The
application must be filled out completely and submitted to-the Town
Clerk as a package containing five (5) copies each of:
1. Official application form
2. Copy of application for building permit
Copy of Building Inspector's letter of denial
(if applicable)
4. Copy of Plat Plan by a registered professional engineer
Additions/alterations to be shown in red with
measurements to lot lines
5. Copy of applicable assessor's plat upon which the subject
property is located
h. All specific plans necessary to clarify the request for
relief
An application fee of $90.00 must be submitted (please make checks
payable to-the TOWN OF READING), except submittal of application for
Municipal Reuse, Townhouse Developement, Comprehensive Permit, or other
- major hearing, the fee is $200.00.
Any application to the Board of Appeals on appeal from an order or'
decision of the Building Inspector shall be made within thirty (30)
days of, the order or decision.
A hearing date-will be set and you as well as all parties in in-
terest will be notified:bv mail. All hearinas.of the Board of Appeals
are open to the public.
At the hearing, the applicant or-his/heragent shall make a pre-
sentation of facts in support of the applicant's request.
In the case of a VARIANCE. the applicant must identify and factu-
ally support ALL FOUR FOLLOWING POINTS: (From Chap. 40A, Sec 10 M.G..L.)
1. "..owina to circumstances relatina to the soil conditions.

In the case of a SPECIAL PERMIT, there are provisions for relief
which may be granted by a-special permit if that request involves non-
Conforming lots or structures, lots or structures located in the
wetlands protection areas, accessory apartments, or other applicable
sections of the Beading Zoning Bylaws addressing special permits.
