Jones U. O'Sullivan V. Palmer A. Ulrich W. Hoxie V. Adams J. McCauley David Barrett presented an agreement(notarized) to purchase the property at 30-32 John Street. The Chairman went over the events of the last Public Hearing. Mr Barrett stated that rehabilitation of the building is economically not feasible. Mr Ulrich : "What steps have you taken toward renovation?" Mr Barrett: "Got prices on heating, plumbing, electric, etc. Numbers are astronomical." General discussion by the audience and David Barrett. The discussion covered many issues. .a7 Barrett says there will be no demolition of the building before going before4)BA. COL Hoxie gave plausable explanation of why save the house. Followed a discussion of nothing. Motion: R. Sullivan; sec, E. Palmer Close the Public Hearing Passed Public Hearing closed at 9:34 PM. MEETING OF RHC AFTER PEOPLE LEFT THE PUBLIC-MEETING 18 February 1997 Motion: D. O'Sullivan; sec, R. Sullivan Pr4fa WY The property at 30-32 John Street be referred as Avlemd Preservation. V. Adams not able to vote because of absence at first, Public Meeting. Vote: O'Sullivan - Yes Sullivan - Yes McCauley - No Palmer - No Motion: V. Adams; sec R. Palmer Accept minutes of 4 February 1997 Treasurer's Report: RHC to pay $ 75.00 for Public Hearing notice in newspaper. Old Business: Bandstand Committee on hold awaiting outcome of Downtown study. Pearl Street School: Needs documentation for Preservation Award. Being worked on. Letter from Louise Sandberg to Town Clerk on old Town records. Meeting interrupted by visit of Peter Heckenblecker: He wanted some imput of putting disease -free elms trees back in Reading. The Town could bring 100 elms from Newburyport. We grow them and give 50 back to Newburyport. He says the procedure for re-consideration of motion must be made from negative side. No response so motion to re-consider is withdrawn. Correspondence: Program "Develop Downtown" in Lowell on 28 February. RHC agrees to send R. Sullivan to conference and pay $20.00 tuition.
