Next meeting date:
1. Discussion of letter from Land Bank Committee,
courtesy of Ben Nichols, viewed as very informative.
2. Discussion items outlined from Jonathan and Bob.
a. What are the time constraints?
b. Environmental constraints.
3. Review of developed properties, Commonwealth and
Federal properties, institutional properties,
undeveloped / unimproved lands, State owned
lands, Town of Reading Conservation Lands, Quasi
Public, private, agricultural (chapter 61), and
recreational lands.
4. Present cemetery information...
a. Laurel Hill, 19 acres - filled
b. Forest Glen, 10 acres- filled
c. Charles Lawn, 6 acres- about 15 yrs. use remains
5. State Law Chapter 114 - All cities and towns must
provide burial for all citizens.
6. Suggested ideas for new cemetery locations.
a. Minimum size, 14 acres of non wetland
b. Ease of accessibility
c. Topography
d. No ledge
e. Town owned
f. Overall cost of development
7. Proposed sites
a. Bear Hill: ? ledge
b. Kurchian Woods: conservation
c. Be-ar Meadows: sponges for aquifer area
d. Batchelder Field: meets selection criteria
8. Ad Hoc Cemetery Advisory Committee will present
land selection and criteria requirements on
