Committee Members: Virginia Adams, Edward F. Fuller, Bryan D. Hodgkins, Karol A. McLaughlin, Joyce K. Miller, Ruth A. Stanieich, Mary R. Vincent 3. Dates of Meetings: February 2, 8, 25 (1993) March 4, 18, (1993) 4. Report of Progress to Date: We gathered background information and confirmed the need for additional cemetery space within the immediate future. At the present time, there are no sites available which allow headstones, since Laurel Hill is filled to capacity and Forest Glen is sold out. The only available plots are in Charles Lawn and only flat markers are allowed. Charles Lawn will reach capacity in a relatively short time. After a review of numerous potential sites, both public and privately owned, it became abundantly clear that this proposed cemetery will be the last cemetery developed in Reading due to lack of available land. Therefore, we feel that anew cemetery must became a priority issue for the town of Reading and its citizens. The major concern that this committee has with the Batchelder Field site is that the acreage is minimal, considering the long terns needs for space. We are presently considering alternatives to obtain larger acreage. A more detailed report will be presented at a Town Meeting. Respectfully Submitted, Ruth A. Stanieich, Chair-person
