PRESENT: Dick Felone, Aloyse Jellison, Jane Soule, Penny Richards
Rosemary Gibbons, John Montgomery, Betty Knox and
Rheta McKinley.
.ABSENT: Lorna Knapp, Sebastian Tine, Woody Baldwin and Frank Lemaire.
Dick mentioned a letter received from the Reading Housing Authority
asking for COA representation at a special meeting that night with the
Selectmen regarding the new senior center. The meeting is scheduled
for 8:30 p.m. and Penny, Rosemary and Aloyse have agreed to attend.
Motion MADE and SECONDED to accept the minutes of the previous meeting
with one correction. Betty Knox is to be listed as present.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Jane had several questions all of which were satis-
factorily answered by Rheta. Motion MADE and SECONDED to accept the
Financial Report.
ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY REPORT: Rheta discussed the present success
of the Shopper Program. Enid presently has 25 non-duplicated clients.
At present there is sufficient money to cover this program. The Board
of Health has issued us a Certificate permitting us to serve meals down-
stairs. Rheta suggested that someone be hired to come in on a monthly
basis to clean the closets, range and refrigerator and thoroughly wash
down the tables. She feels that this is the responsibility of Home Care.
Penny agrees to draft this letter. Regarding the Finance Committee, our
Budget has been level-funded for next year. Also, anyone wanting to
inspect the Pearl Street School, may do so on their own. A key is avail-
able at the Superintendent's Office.
OLD BUSINESS: By-laws; A motion MADE and SECONDED that we make our
services available to people age sixty (60) and over. Also change in
the By-Laws Section 3 Membership - The Council shall consist of seven
members, of whom at least two should be 60 years of age or older, appoint-
ed by the Reading Board of Selectmen. Rheta says that this must go on
the Warrant by February the 18th. Since she will be away on vacation,
Penny agrees to write this Warrant article.
Several Board members plan to meet at the Pearl Street School this coming
Saturday to inspect the site.
NEW BUSINESS: The latest new proposal for the Senior Center Complex is
passed around for inspection by the Board.
Motion MADE and SECONDED to adjourn the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Edna A. Gelman
