HomeMy WebLinkAbout1982-06-08 Council on Aging MinutesCouncil on Aging Regular Meeting June 8, 1982 The regular monthly meeting of the Council on Aging was held on Tuesday, June 8, 1982, in the Community Center and was called to order at 8:08p.m. Pembers present: Andrew Mulhinch, Lee '10Jinslow, Betty Knox, George Cashman arrived late, left at 9:00, Priscilla Poehler. Absent: Anthony Barrasso, Mary Ottino. Also Dresert: Rheta McKinley, Frank Lemaire (assoc. member), Bill Hughes. Guests Mildred G. Bolton and Mary Surette. MINUTES Correction #4 May 11 Andy and Lee met with Town Counsel to question the legality of cancelling the raises. Their recommendation was to throw out the original evaluation and as a total Board, make our own evaluation because the first evaluation had been done without the vote of the entire Council. #11 Anthony and Betty met with the Personnel Board. Motion by Lee, seconded by George,accepted . To accept the minutes as corrected for May 11th meeting. MINUTES of the Special meeting of May 19th Correction - $850. to $830 for Substitute Van Driver. Motion - by Lee, seconded by George, accepted .To accept the minutes as corrected for May 19th meeting. #1 Entertainment Patrons will supply all things for the July cookout and the Council will supply the charcoal and to start the fires ahead of time and cook. George volunteered to help out for the cookout. #2 A question as to whether the CoA will be meeting in July. After the Selectmen make the appointments for new members at that time we will send out notices of when we will meet with the new Board. #3 Payroll Motion by Lee, seconded by George, accepted To give Donna Ruth the authority to sign the payroll in the absence of the Chairman and/or Vice-chairman. Page 2 Council on Aging June 8, 1982 #4 Secretary Minutes should be turned into the office for typing within a week of the meeting night. #5 Budget Two articles were presented and accepted by Town Meeting June 1st. The Fin. Com. has cut the salary accepted for both positions for 4 of a year. ~6 New Business The purchase of new carriers was recommended to keep the M07 hot in transit. There is 5420. in this year's budget for lti1o±1 supplies that we need to spend. In order to buy 2 therm- carriers we would need about $30. more from other extra money found in "81" budget. The idea was agreed upon. Further re- search will be made to see if anything less expensive is available. The van may be used for transportation if enrollment exceeds 47 for the Clambake trip June 30. If the Clambake has to be cancelled the theater trip to .kismet, August 9th will replace it. There will be no Boston Gas trip this year. The Annual trip to Salisbury Beach is planned for Aug. 19th. If there are enough who enroll we can get a bus for the trip. A letter will be sent to cancel the Senior Citizen Publishers Contract for the Senior Update. They require a 90 day notice to cancel. Andy volunteered to ask the "Patrons" if they will continue paying the postage on the Elderberries. In a desire to market the Senior Center for fall activities, we would like to circulate an Activities Questionnaire to be filled out by as many as possible to tally their interests. These questionnaires will be passed out at the Golden Age Group and the Senior's cookout. The Board has agreed to allow the Van Driver Monday and Thursday afternoon off during the summer. Motion by Donna, seconded by Priscilla and Betty To encumber $660. in funds if possible for the Annual Dinner.
