Millennium Steering Committee
July 21, 1999 Meeting # 18
The meeting was convened at 7:11 PM in the Conference Room at Town Hall.

In attendance: Anna Carroll Foulds, Alan Foulds, Dick Stosez, Mary Williams, and Steve Crook.
Non-committee members: None.
Business
1. Minutes
The minutes of June 29''', 1999 were approved.
2. Correspondence
Anna (Ace) reported that she was contacted via email by CNN. She gave them information on the
celebration. In answer to a follow-up letter, she gave them information on the town.
Dianne Foulds passed along information regarding her contact with web "radio" stations. She has
received both positive and negative responses; as well as requests for more information.
Ace presented a letter that she plans to mail to organizations later this month. It is a call to the
groups for help. The committee accepted her proposal for the mailing.
Ace reported that she contacted Bob Brown of the Solid Waste Council, and said that she would
like to involve that group in the Millennium plans.
3. Sub-committee reports
Uptown 2000 - Alan and Ace passed out copies of the so-called "6 point plan" outlining in a
single page, what is planned for the celebration. It is to be used on the web page and other
publicity vehicles.
Big Tent on the Common To replace the events in the Field House, the committee decided to
research the idea of having a big tent on the Common. The tent would become the focal point of
the celebration, housing the World Clock, RCTV, various talent, and serve as a central location for
the "Midnight Celebration".
Dick reported back on "glow stick" items available for lighting up the Common at midnight. He
passed around brochures detailing the products, while pricing information will come later. He
recommended "glow buttons" for the staff, which stay lit for four hours.
YMCA - Steve was not able to reach Lorraine Dennis.
Talent Co-ordinators - Ace reported that Michael Colford, producer of the "Clotrudis Awards" a
local version of the "Academy Awards" will take part in "Uptown 2000" in a yet-to-be-
determined fashion. His committee has also agreed to take part.
Electronic Communication - Karen will remove the Birch Meadow portion of the proposed
program from the web site. She will also contact Bell Atlantic about temporary Internet
connections.
Written Communication - Ads, calling for volunteers, appeared in the Chronicle.
Industrial Expo - None.
Video - Alan Foulds and Phil Rushworth will be taking pictures of photographs in the Historical
Commission collection within a week.
Corporation - None.
Budget None.
Other - None.
5. Fund Raising Activities
T-shirts - Dick reported that we had $5,000 worth of inventory on hand on May 15"'. Of that,
approximately $1,650 has been sold.
Colonial Manor bought 15 shirts, and Bathrooms Etc. bought 6 shirts.
To date, we have spent $2,514.72 on shirts, and received $4,656.
The Hitching Post sells an average of $125 a month.
Poster - None.
Celebration Trust - Mary reported that the first installment of the Celebration Trust $15,000 grant
is due to us on October I".
Sponsorship Marketing -It was decided that "Venue Sponsors" would be charged $1,000, while
"Talent Sponsors" will be charged the cost of the talent.
Other - None.
6. Open Discussion

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM. to August 18th, 1999. (This meeting was later cancelled. The
/ Chairman will notify committee members of a new date.)
