Non-committee members: Karin Samatis, Charlie Peacock, Craig Gallant, and Gerald Gallant. Business 1. Minutes The minutes of December 20th, 1999 were approved as amended. 2. Correspondence Anna (Ace) reported that she had been contacted by potential volunteers. They were told to call Karin Samatis for assignment. 3. Tent Issues According to both Mary Hatfield and Ace, the town government informed us that we do not need to call "dig-safe". We have since been informed that we do. Ace reported that Ted McIntire of the DPW will take care of it. Mary Williams reported that the school electrician is not available to us. Harry Harutunian gave her the name of Bob LaBonte of Lynnfield. She contacted him and he is willing to pull the electrical permit needed and will bill the corporation. Mary will meet with the electrical inspector and the electrician tomorrow (Dec. 28) at 7:30 AM. Mike Scouten's name was passed on to Linda Cottone by Dick, for help with hanging the bank's banner on the tent. 4. Button, Torch, and Shirt Update Buttons: About 1,900 have been sold. 1,000 more are being made. All outlets are currently stocked. Torches: Approximately 480 have been sold. A Plus Printing has agreed to carry them for this week. Sasse is closed until Thursday. Shirts: Dick reported that he is ready to turn in $374. 5. Midnight Update Craig Gallant reported that the Midnight celebration will be scheduled as follows, beginning approximately 10 minutes before Midnight: 1. Dramatic reading from 100 years ago. 2. Music Street plays something appropriate, such as "1999". 3. Fog machine and strobes will begin. 4. Sally Hoyt will speak. 5. Big screen TV will turn on with logo, followed by countdown. 6. Sally will start countdown. 7. Midnight. Confetti cannons, clock lights, balcony, strobes, lighting. 8. Music Street plays "Auld Lang Syne". 6. Venues, Talent Update With the help of Ruth Gosselin, we have added a storyteller to the Town Hall venue. Sumner McLain will perform from 7:30 to 8:30. Karin Samatis verified that all other talent was still in place as scheduled. This week Karin and other members of the Entertainment Committee will be checking all venues for final details. The committee discussed the need for special placards for cars used by performers to get to venues. The Entertainment Committee is finalizing rental equipment needed in different venues. Two large screen TV's will be needed - one for the Baptist Church venue, and one for the Midnight Celebration. Karin will follow up. 7. Program The Chronicle asked how many special edition copies we required. The committee directed Mary Williams to ask for 3,500. Alan will give Mary a final copy of the program tomorrow morning, and she will have the school print several thousand copies. 8. Video, Map, Expo Updates Alan reported that the video and map projects are on target. Dick reported that the Expo is under way. Three participants have exhibits in place - The Library, the Post Office, and the RMLD. 9. Town Issues Ace reported that extra insurance has been purchased to protect the churches and other organizations hosting our events. 10. Budget Review See budget. 11. Review of Issues List The Issues List was not reviewed. 12. Other Karin reported that we have had 30 people volunteer their services on New Year's Eve. The meeting was adjourned to December 296 at 7 PM. Following adjournment, committee members witnessed an impressive demonstration of the confetti cannons.
