Minutes
Millennium Steering Committee
February 29, 2000 Meeting # 31
--The meeting was convened at 7:07 PM in the Berger Room of Town Hall.
In attendance: Anna Carroll Foulds, Alan Foulds, Mary Hatfield, Karen Sawyer, Dick Stosez, and
Steve Crook.
Non-committee members: Karin Samatis
Business
1. Minutes
The minutes of January 15th, 2000 were approved.
2. Correspondence
Anna (Ace) reported that she has received several "thank you's" and sets of pictures from various
people who attended the party. She showed them to the committee members.
3. Budget and Balance review
On a motion by Ace, and seconded by Alan, the committee voted unanimously to donate $50
each to the girl scout troop that supplied the "pet rocks", Linda Griset's camp fire group that
loaded batteries in the torches, and Catie Robertson's girl scout troop, which also put batteries
into torches.
On a motion by Dick Stosez, and seconded by Mary Hatfield, the committee voted unanimously
to donate $2,000 toward the purchase of a Thermal Imaging device for the fire department.
On a motion by Dick, and seconded by Steve Crook, it was recommended that the Board of
Directors of Reading Celebrations, Inc. maintain a balance of $500 for petty cash, and to pay all
fees. The vote was unanimous.
Steve moved that we give $25 each to the three employees of Papa Gino's restaurant, who were
working when the restaurant fed the Project Concern group that performed in the tent.
It was voted unanimously.
Mary Hatfield moved that we donate all leftover t-shirts and sweat shirts to the Lions Club and
Rotary, for use as raffle prizes in their road races, scheduled for April and May. The motion was
- seconded by Steve, and it carried unanimously.

4. Outstanding Issues
The donation to the First Composite Group of World War H Re-enactors, has not yet been sent.
Brenda Smith has been directed to cut the check.
The bill from the Old South Church of $54 has not yet been paid. Brenda Smith has been
directed to cut the check.
Ace will produce a final report, to be approved by this committee at the next session, and
delivered to the Board of Selectmen at their March 28d` meeting.
Alan will send "Thank You" letters to all participants in the Industrial Exposition held at the
library (Reading Municipal Light Department, Reading Post Office, Reading Public Library),
Wilmington Granite, which supplied the "Pet Rocks", Papa Gino's Restaurant, which fed the
Project Concern members, Cafe Capri, which fed members of the Lafayette Band, and Edward
Jones Investments and Longwood Place, which hosted a Hospitality Center for volunteers.
Ace will notify the Board of Directors that they should meet to review all money votes taken at
this meeting.
5. Balance Distribution
According to the original Town Meeting motion of 1994, which established the $10,000 seed
money for the Millennium Party, all profits from this celebration must be returned to the
Celebration Trust. The Board of Directors has been informed. "
6. Adjourn
The meeting was adjourned to March 21'.
