HomeMy WebLinkAbout1986-07-09 Council on Aging MinutesREADING COUNCIL ON AGING Secretary's Report July 9, 1986 PRESENT: Woody Baldwin, Dick Felone, Rosemary Gibbons, Aloyse Jellison, Lorna Knapp, Frank Lemaire and Sebastian Tine and Selectwoman Molly Zeigler ABSENT: John Montgomery and. Jane Soule ELECTION OF OFFICERS: The following slate of officers were nominated Chairperson Vice-Chairperson Secretary Treasurer F. Richard Felone Aloyse Jellison Lorna Knapp Jane Soule The officers were approved by-a unanimous vote. FORMULA GRANT: There was considerable discussion on how to use $6855 in 1987 EOEA grant . A motion was made, seconded and approved by unanimous vote to: Continue funding Friendly Visitor Program and increase sal- ary of Coordinator to $6.10 per hour. (2; Continue funding 22 hours of salary per week for MOW Coor- dinator @ $6.72 per hour with anticipated increase as rat- ified by union contract. 3. $500.00 for MCOA dues, meetings, conferences, etc. for COA w board and staff. i'4~ Balance of grant will be used to pay salary of shopper @ $6.10 per hour for 16 hours per week. MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION: Rheta requested permission to pay medical trans- portation cost for two clients. After a lengthy discussion it was voted to pay these costs. Rheta feels there should.be guidelines to follow for future requests. The Board will work towards setting up guidelines for medical`rtransportation requests. Rheta will try to set up a contract with a local cab company willing to"do out-of-town medical transportation on an as needed basis. Molly Zeigler suggested dis.cussing_the contract with Town.
