Regular Meeting
December 10, 1980
The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held on Wednesday,
December 10, 19800 in the Recreation Hall at Tannerville.
The Secretary's report was accepted as rendered.
Frank Zemaire reminded members that the Council on Aging is a policy
making Board. Individual Board members should not attempt to determine
policy outside of Council meetings. A list of guidelines for members
was given to each one present.
A lively discussion concerning the meal program ensued. Harold Wyatt
feels we should not depend on federal funds to continue the meal pro-
gram. Selectman Marvin Rosenthal also feels we should try to do the
program on our own. No action was taken.
Arthur Polychrones reported on his conversation with Joe Riemer con-
cerning maintenance of the Van. Due to the fact that Joe used foul
language toward the Council, it was agreed not to work with him at
this time. He reported that the B.P.W. is agreeable to servicing
the Council Van every two months. They will also allow us to pur-
chase oil and gas through them.
VOTED; B.P.W. service Council Van every two months. It
must be left for half a day.
VOTED; To allow Fred Perry to act as Editor of the Senior
Citizens' Newsletter. He will work with Mrs. McKinley.
Mrs. McKinley gave a brief report on the Dental Clinic which will be
started January 12. It will be held on Monday-Wednesday-Friday each
week with rotating dentists.
The Board agreed that David Peterson of Mall Drug should not be allowed
to speak at the meal site. Mr. Zemaire will approach the druggists in
Reading about writing an article on Generic Drugs. This will be in-
cluded in the monthly newsletter.
There was considerable discussion about the cleaning of the Meal Site
at the Senior Center. Marvin Rosenthal will look into a CETA person
to maintain the Center. He will also check on another desk for the
office.
