The Secretary's report was accepted as rendered with one correction: the last paragraph was amended to read.: "33 meals on wheels recipients". Mr. Lemaire told the group that Ruth Turnquist had been hired to do Out- reach work for the Council on Aging under the guidelines of the Department of Elder Affairs grant. The $500. allottment in the DEA grant will not cover the cost of postage and labels for the mailing of the first Senior Citizen newsletter. Other means of obtaining funds was discussed. Mr. Lemaire will speak to the Selectmen concerning the cost of labels which is approximately $400.00. Frank Lemaire and Arthur Polychrones met with the Board of Public Works to discuss maintenance of the Council van. They will be in touch with us after they reach a decision. Arthur Polychrones gave an updated report on the proposed dental clinic. VOTED: to locate the dental clinic in the Drop-in-Ctr. VOTED: to have annual dinner on November 23rd at Austin Prep. John MacDonnell briefly discussed the budget for 81-82. He will present a tentative budget for 81--82 at the December meeting. John MacDonnell then gave a report concerning Proposition 22. $6000.00 would be taken from next years Council on Aging budget, from figures supplied by the Town Accountant, if this passes. There was a lively discussion concerning our meeting night. The Chairman, Mr. Lemaire, cannot be present on the 3rd Wednesday. John MacDonnell felt we should go back to our regular 3rd Monday in order to set policy for the Council on Aging without the Selectmen "looking over our shoulder". Secretary's report--page 2--October 21, 1980 At this point Mrs. O'Brien arrived at the meeting--Mrs. O'Brien stated "they thought they were coming at our invitation to be helpful and in- formative". If we go back to Monday night, she would like the Council on Aging board to attend one of their Thursday meetings each month. Mrs. O'Brien further stated she would check the cost of the labels for mailing the newsletter and the moving of the dental chair for the dental_ clinic, ~k ~ v d Id ~ 4 z f a " j~r Respectfully submitted, i Rheta C.
