The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held on September 16, 1980
in the recreation hall at Tannerville.
Julie Doe of the Combined Visiting Nurse Association gave a brief explana-
tion of their services. Most of the services are covered by Medicare or Med-
icaid. There is no charge for their first visit.
Mrs. O'Brien, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, discussed the CE`1'A grant
for Council on Aging. There will be eight full time people hired: 2 office
clericals, 1 MOW driver, 1 custodian for the drop-in-center, and 4 friendly
visitors. Mr. Anew will do the hiring with the Council on Aging having in-
put. Friendly visitors will attend a training session prior to making calls.
Following considerable discussion John MacDonnell moved we accept the MOW
drivers guidelines as written by. Middlesex Community Services. Harold Wyatt
requested it be noted these guidelines were;-written by Middlesex Community
Services.
Voted: to accept grant of $4650. from Department of Elder Affairs.
Mr. Lemaire will write letter of acceptance to Department of Elder Affairs
for above mentioned grant.
Voted: to award monthly newsletter contract to Senior Citizen Publishing
Company and to mail the first issue.
Arthur Polychrones gave an update on the dental program. The Board of
Health would like to work with the Council on Aging on this project. They
will provide supplies, nurse, and printed material.
Voted: to proceed with the program as as possible.
Voting for the Silver Haired Legislature on September 24th will be held at
the Community Center from 10 to 4. Frank Lemaire and Arthur Polychrones
will act as election officers.
Esther Stone, the candidate for Representative of the 21st Middlesex Dis-
trict was introduced.
A list of responsibilities and duties for Board members was read by the
Chairman, Mr. Lemaire. Arthur Polychrones and Guy Rennison volunteered
to assume responsibility for proper operation of the Council Van.

Mr. Lemaire reported we are delivering an average of 33 meals per day at
the present time--putting us over the number allowed under our contract.
Board members were asked to please refrain from soliciting MOW recipients.
Only emergency cases can be added at this time.
Meeting adjourned at 10:10.
