Regular Meeting
January 15, 1979
The scheduled regular meeting of the Council on Aging was
held on Monday, January 15, 1979, in the Recreation. Hall at
Tannerville.
The Vice Chairman called the meeting to order in the absence
of the Chairman, Mr. Rennison, who was ill. The minutes of
the December 18, 1978 meeting were reviewed. The Vice Chair-
man reported that Burlington Dodge's Mr. Winters advised that
the new van is scheduled to use assembled January 16th and
should be here about February 1, 1979.
Harold Wyatt reported on the successful Christmas party held
December 19th with about seventy senior citizens and over a
hundred in the chorus of the Coolidge Junior High in attend-
ance. He recommended another next year. Nary Ottin.o seconded
the motion and added complimentary remarks. The motion was
passed without negative remarks. Compugraphio Corporation's
donation of thirty three parcels of food was reported which
were delivered to deserving senior citizens by Mary O'Connor,
Meals on Wheels driver, and Luigi.
The Vice Chairman reported that the letter of protest was
f written to Malden. Action, with copies to the Department of
Elder Affairs, Massachusetts Association of Older Americans
and John Agnew, Jr., concerning the elimination of coffee
with the congregate meals. (Currently coffee is available
at a charge of ten cents.)
There was discussion concerning Malden Action and other con.-
tractors performances in other towns. Seiler's (caterers)
excellence in Woburn., Winchester Hospital's supplying congre-
gate meals in Winchester, etc. It is hoped that more informa-
tion may be available for February 19th meeting.
It was agreed that regular meetings be held February 19th
(Washington's birthday) and April 16th (Patriots Day) since
only one member may be unavailable.
There was no Treasurer's report or town computer run off of
accounts.

It appeared that the majority should find it helpful if the
practice might be resumed and that a list of communications
received or a folder maintained for the passing around at
meetings so that the busy members would have information
concerning the Council and other agencies.
Mr. Rennison's report on his investigation of the possibility
of using the Board of Health nurse for senior citizen health
checks in place of higher priced Visiting Nurse fees is
expected at the next meeting.
Council on Aging Regular Meeting ® January 15P 1979
Mention was made of the Department of Elder Affair®s grant
to renovate the basement of the Community Center and to pro--
vide furniture for an enlarged center. It is hoped that more
