Council on Aging
December 18, 1978
The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held on
Monday, December 1978 in the Recreation Hall at Tannerville.
The Secretary®s report was accepted as rendered. There
was no Treasurer°s report.
Mr. Rennison reported a successful Flu Shot Clinic with
105 people receiving shots.
, Mr. Lemaire reported the Van received by Burlington Dodge
for our use was not the model ordered. Delivery of the correct
one should be expected within 60 days from December 11.
A motion by Frank Lemaire, seconded by Harold Wyatt to
have Mr, Rennison investigate the possibility of using the
Board of Health nurse at the Community Center to check blood
pressure, etc. rather than the Visiting Nurse who we have to pay.
Christmas Party to4held on December 19th was discussed.
Harold Wyatt will attend and report at next meeting concerning
possibility of a "bigger & better" party next year.
Mrs. McKinley reported that Malden Action would no longer
be offering coffee with the lunches, because the DEA feels it
is harmful to Senior Citizens. However, it may be purchased
for an additional charge of 10¢. Motion by Lorna Knapp, second
by Frank Lemaire to oppose this decision. The Elderly should
be allowed to decide for themselves whether or not they want
coffee. Mr. Lemaire will write letter of opposition to Malden
Action, DEA, MAOA, and John Agnew.
Motion by Frank Lemaire, second by John MacDonnell that
Mrs. McKinley be allowed to attend the meetings of the Mass.
Association of Senior Center Directors. The Council will pay
dues, mileage at 15¢ per mile and other costs related to at-
tending these and other meetings or seminars concerning Senior
Citizens for Mrs. McKinley and or other :hoard Members. The
Selectmen have indicated they would like the Board and Staff
to attend as many of these as possible.
The Board authorized use of the Van to take the Elderly
on "fun trips" during the month of January while no classes are
being held.
