HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-07-17 Council on Aging MinutesCouncil on Aging Regular meeting July 17, 1978 The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held on Monday, July 17, 1978 at 7.30 P.M. in the Recreation Hall at Tannerville. The secretary's report was accepted as rendered. There was no treasurer's report. Van bids were opened. Smyly Chevrolet of Wakefield was the low bidder. The Council voted unanimously to have Mr. Rennison & Mr. Lemaire proceed with the purchase of new van. Mr. William Hughes. of the Finance Committee will be a subcommittee member of the Council on Aging. The Council felt it would be impossible to cut the budget by 10% at this time. Would the $3500. grant.from.Mysti.c Valley Elder Home. Care, Inc. constitute the 10% cut. Mr. Rennison announced that three people have expressed interest in the weekend position driving to and from the Stoneham meal site. There were sixty people in attendance at the first summer program and approximately 100 at the second one. There will be a special program on July 20th. The music workshop of the summer school un- der the direction of Mr. J. Douglas Oliver will present a musical program at 7s00 P.M. Jay Dumas and Harold Wyatt are co-chairman of the cockout.to be ,held on July 27th at Tannerville, The Council and Malden Action will be sponsoring another picnic in the back of community Center on August 21st. Political candidates will be allowed to visit the meal site but will not be allowed to go to any of the special programs planned for the elderly. Mrs. McKinley requested permission to drop the Thursday trip to Burlongton Mall and replace it with a "fun trip" during the summer. The Malden van is here for local shopping, transportation to the meal site, etc. This was agreed to by the Council. The meeting adjourned at 9:20. Respectfully submitted, tetaC.
