Council on Aging
The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held on Monday,
August 159 19'7'79 at 7030 in the recoeation hall at Tannerville.
it was voted to accept the secretary's report of July 18th. The
Treasurer's was accepted as $25,944.80.
Mr, Everett Lenaire has been empowered to sign all payroll and
bills payable by the Council in the absence of Mr, Rennison,.
Mr. Senn-? son thanked Verna Lantz for the excellent job on the
cookout which was held in July and Jeanne Dube for a delightful
ice cream smorgasbord in August. The next and final summer pro-
gram will be held on August 25th with Jeanne :Cube as Chairman.
On August 23rd there will be a film on",lcoholism Among The Elderly'!
shown after the hot lunch program. The fall class schedule was dis-
cussed--there will be no choral class this year due to lack of teach-
er. A homemaking class has been added to the schedule with Holly
owe as the instructor.
:here will be two dancing classes on. Thursday mornings for which
there will be charge of 750 per lesson.
P. Rennison will check with Malden Action concerning use of the
a? den an for an extra day each weer,
r. Richie suggested, getting the older people to help out with the
volunteer program and social service aspect of the Council.
Mrs. :Lantz will contact a group about helping with eats on Wheels.
Dr. Guerra sugges`fd working through the Churches to help. Mr, enn--
icon will approach the Clergy =association on this matter,
No. Wyatt woul_d like to see more senior citizen news in the Chronicle.
The grant for a new van probably will not be available due to the
federal guidelines.
The Thanksgiving dinner is set for November 17th and will be lim-
ited to 300 people.
