HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-10-18 Council on Aging MinutesOctober 18, 1976 Regular Meeting Council on Aging Discussion of the Flu Shots scheduled for Wednesday, October 27th. Verna Lantz volunteered to help out at the clinic. There will be no doctors giving the vacine. Mrs. Hodson asked for a vote on the concept of Elderly Housing. Mr. Southwick is asking for some input from the Board. Dr. Guerra made a. motion that the Board recognizes and supports the need for low and moderate income housing for the Elderly. The annual dinner will be November 9th at 12130. Verna. Lantz has made arrangements for the entertainment. The flowers are being donated by Erics Greenhouse, and Westons Greenhouse,, What Mr. Burson originally paid for flowers, he will now' give away in prizes. Mrs. Louanis will be taking reservations this week. Transportation will be provided by the Council. The Homemaking class had to be cancelled, as we did not find a teacher. The money we saved on that class was spent on hiring a Crewel teacher. The Finance Committee recommended the Councils motion for the Congregate Meals. Hodson announced that we are now part of the Woburn Council of Social Concern, which offers Legal Services. Malden fiction i:cca The Congreate Meals Program will start an January 3, 1977 Mrs, Barbera .Darby" as Site Manager. Motion was made to use as many of the extra meals to be taken out. James Dumas stated that he would look into getting containers for transporting the meals. Received ra letter from Mystic Valley Ilder Home Care, the results or the needs assessments program will be announced on December 16th at the Wakefield armory. Mrs. Hodson reminded the Board, that the 'budget is due in February. Received a letter from the personnel Board.. They have been unable to reach a settlement with t`.°irs. Somers. The Personnel Hoard will be turning it over to the Selectmen. A vote was taken on paying the sine for any person driving for the Council for any accidents incurred. IAction was made and second.
