The meeting scheduled for April 28, was canceled. due to the Chairman's illness. The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Mrs, Virginia Hodson, at WO P.M. In addition to the Chairman, Mrs. Hodson$ those in attendance were Mrs, Jeanne Dube', Mr. James :pumas, The Bev, Frederick Emrich, Mrs, Verna Lantz, Mrs, Elizabeth. ouanis and fir. Robert Sullivan. The secretary, Mrs. Thelma Somers, was also present, On motion duly made and seconded it was unanimously-. VOTED: To accept the secretary's report of the March 24 meeting, copies of which had been 'mailed to all Council members, On motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously% VOTED-. To accept the Treasurer's report, which was presented by the Chairman in the absence of the Treasurer, Mr, Charles Stratton Balance as of April 30 $3068.59 State Grant 8.54 Van receipts to date 249.50 Notifi >tion. was received from Mr. Albert Cullaen, a member of the Finance' Committee, that such 'committee had approved a budget of $199190 for the Council.. The forthcoming Summer Schedule was considered, and on motion duly made and secc:,aded, it was unanimously: To schedule the following dates for the Summer Program.. June 26 Aug. 14 July lC Aug. 28 Ju" y 24 Tentative progr< u:,ing was scheduled as follows.. June 26 - Cookout with games - Mr, Sul.livan$ Chairman July 10 - Square Dancing with Mil Dixon's group - Punch and Cookies July 24 - Cookout ® Either Colonial Chorus, Barbershoppers, or Qp Players entertaining Aug. 14 - lee Cream Smorgasbord with the showing of the film "Jane Eyre" - The Rev. Emrich, Chairman Aug. 28 - Watermelon arty - with one of the above suggested for July 4 for entertainment The Summer Bus Schedule was considered and the following was sug- gested: s Monday - 10,00 - Bowling 2;00 P.m. - Woo - Downtown Shopping Tuesday - 9;OO - € : 0 - Burlington shopping 2:00 - 5:00 - appointments or local shopping Wednesdays - 9;30 - 1:00 - Redstone shopping 1:00 3:00 - Movie or Redstone shopping Thursday - 9:00 - 000 No. Shore shopping :00 -local shopping or appointments to 000 P.M. 1da y - 9 g oo - 1:00 - Local shopping Reading and No. Reading 1:30 - %00 - Drop-in Center and appointments On motion duly made and seconded it was unanimously: To discontinue Saugus shopping trips for the summer. On motion duly lade and seconded it was unanimously: VOTED: To hold rur yet meeting Monday, May 19. The Chat aman, Mrs. Hodson, announced, that notice had been received from the E 14ve Secretary, dire Agnew, that there would be a Special Town Meeting tonday, May 12. Discussion of the proposed gift from the Rotarians ensued,, The Rotarimans have found the cost of a projector more expensive than was planned, but will do further pricing and search for possible discounts, "n Berger suggested parting with their presert projector which has seldom been used The Council, board suggested acce lig si.ble donation to a p~. the offer of their projector or a pos- projector ford" to be given to the matrons for Older Adults. Donations to this funfmok3d be welcome until, which time a sufficient sun Is accumulated to purchase the desired projector. Mrs. Elizabeth ' al.ey- was hired as a substitute driver while Mr. Sablone was on vacation the week of April 14, The Chairman announced the next area. Sub-Committee meeting will b hosted by the Reading Courci.l, on June 9 at the Housing for the Elderly.
