Regular Meeting, May 239 1973
The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held on May 23, 1973 at 7:30
P.M. in Room .I. of the Community Center, 52 Sanborn Street.
Mrs, Nathalie C. Beaton, Chairman called the rreetin to order with the
following comprising a quorums lairs. Elizabeth ,ouanis, Mrs. Jeanne Dube', Mr.
Donald Farnham, and Mr. Charles Stratton.. Mrs. Marian Tyminski was also present.
Upon motion duly made by fir. Stratton and seconded at was unanimously:
VOTED- To accept the Secretary's report of the April 25th meeting that
had been previ.osly mailed to all Council members.
[Upon motion duly made by Mrs. Jeanne tube' and seconded it was unanimously:
V ! 6 To accept the Treasurer's report that to date $2,448,,54 had been
spent and $655.28 for the month of April.
Mrs. Tymanski reported: that 106 Senior Citizens applied for M.B. .Ag
Identification cards, a record number os applicants.
The"Patr ons for Older Adults, Inc." is now i.n. existence with all officers
and U'iretors, having been elected. The next general meeting will be September 12.
In order that the Mini-bus will be able to be put into operation as soon as
it is available sirs. Beaton has looked into all matters concerning the legal
matters. It is expected: that we will be able to purchase gasoline at the 'T'own
Garage at Town Prices. Wether we will need extra insurance is also being
investigated. We will employ a full time driver for shoppin trips and theatre
parties who will also help in the office and at Tannervill leaning up after the
regular Council sponsared classes. Mr, Sabone came before 'the Council meeting at
this time and was gives a job description and promised frill consideration when
the job became available. It eras decided that a part-time driver be employed for the
summer to drive the "Y" clan for shopping trips. If none is available the traps will
be cancelled.
The Ceramics Classes have continued to grow more expensive in spite of

Choral Group under Mrs. Jane Cosa have been asked to entertain at many functions.
The Oil Painting Class under Mrs. Mar Derrick have an exhibit in the windows of
"The Purple Door Paint Store°.

VOTED-. To accept the articles of furniture offered by Mr. Benton 'o the
Drop-in Center. We will accept the sewing machine he has rather than
spend money rep-airing the one at Tannerville,
The Ceramic Kiln claim has been referred to the Town Counsel,ort Mr. Conners
and we hope to be able to recoup ou $343,90. Another kiln is definitely needed
in the fall.
Two Theatre Parties have been scheduledat a, cost of $2,00 for a show alone
or $5.00 for a combination show, luncheon, and fashion show. The performances are:

July 21 "Camelot" with Leonard Nim.oy
On May 30 at 7:00 P.M, Bridge Games will be held at Tanne vil.le sponse ed.
by the Council.. Theme will be no charge or prizes and all the Elderly are welcome.
Mrs. Betty ouanis announced that she will be in charge o the Council, Bats
Trips, She has planned the foll.owing~

The <j_ _ eberries'$ will be mailed on June 15, 19 x73 with the help o the
residents of Tannervtllee
Dirs. Edith Sias has a group from the Old South Methodist Church who wil:.l
be willing to help any Senior Citizen with any type of work during the last week
of June. She has asked that we advertise this in the Elderberries. This is an
