HomeMy WebLinkAbout1973-04-24 Council on Aging MinutesCouncil on Aging - Regular Meeting April 24, 1973 The regular meeting of the Council on Aging was held in Room 1 of the Community Center, 52 Sanborn Street on Wednesday, April 24, 1973 at 7:30 P.M. Those present from the Council who constituted a quorum were; Mrs, Nathalie C, Beaton, Chairman, Mrs. Verna Lantz, Mrs, Elizabeth Louanis, Mr. Charles Stratton', Mr, Donald Farnham, and Mrs, Jeanne Dube°, Mrs, Marian Tyminski was also present, On motion duly made by Mr. Stratton and seconded,it was unanimously: VOTED: To accept the minutes of the lurch meeting that had been previously . mailed to all the Council members, On motion duly made by Mrs. Lang and seconded, it was unanimously: VOTED: To accept the Treasurer*s report that $1783,26 has been paid out to date, Sirs, Beaton announced that the Mini-bus has been ordered according to the specifications drawn up by the Council and the Town, Because we have had no satisfaction with the Transportation Company about the condition of the Ceramic Kiln ordered from Skutt Ceramics Inc, Mrs, Beaton has turned the matter over to Tyr, Donald Connors of Tyler and Reynolds, the Town Counsi_~Je On April 18, 1973 a meeting was held at 22 Frank Tanner Drive to form a Ton-Profit Organization, Mrs. Beaton announced approximately 50 people attended with 12 of those becoming the original incorporators. Another meeting of the Incorporators will be held April 30, 1973 to discuss By-Laws etc, The Pre-Retirement Seminars have proved very successful and interesting, Another series might possibly be planned in the Pall, vT On motion of Kr, Farnham and duly seconded, it was unanimously; VOWED: To change the evenings of the Simmer Programs this year from Wednesday to Thursday. The programs will be: June 28 Quannapowitt Players July 12 Music Program Watermelon Feast July 26 "Song Birds" Cookout August 9 Square Dance Refreshments August 23 Colonial Chorus Ice Cream Smorgasbord Tars, Louanis reported that she was making plans for three Council Bus trips, one in June, one in July, and one in September, and that she planned to visit Novicks in Millis as a possibility for one of them, It wags decided that Miss Dorothy rates should again be asked to serve as nurse at $15,00 for each trip and that a First Aid Kit should be purchased to be taken along;;on each trip. Two matinee Derformances will be offered at the North Shore Theatre, Beverly; July i "1776"with Join Raitt July 21 "Camelot" with Leonard N moy ears. Beaton has scheduled a meeting with srs. Murphy of the Combined Visiting Nurse Association to discuss the future of our Health Program and what can be done to interest more of the On Sunday, May b Exhibits will be held at both the New England Memorial Hospital and the Melrose Baptist Church on what is being done for the Elderly. We are asked to attend. A letter has been sent to Senator Saltonstall asking him to support Bill No. #1085. ```here being no further business and on motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously: VOTED.- To adjourn the meeting at 10:00 P.M.
