January 24, 1973 700 P, M.
The regular meetin fo~the Council on Aging was called to order on January 24,
1973 in room 1 of the Community Center their new office given to them by the
Selectmen as of the 1st of the year,by the Chairman at 7:30 P.M.
In addition to Mrs, Beaton, Chairman those present were Mrs.Dantz, Mrs. Louanis,
Mrs, Sias& I'=r. Stratton. Mrs, Beaton introduced Miss Mary Larkin, a recent college
graduate, who is interested in geriatric work and the workings of Councils on Aging
such as ours.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously:
V TERD; To accept for the records the Secretary°s report for the December
11Y 1972, meeting, copies of which had been previously mailed to all members of the
Council'
VOTED.- To accept the Annual Report read by the Secretary.
Mr. Stratton, the Treasurer, reported that to date a total of $197.90 has been
paid out in 1973, upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously:
VOTED: To accept for the records the Treasurer's report.
Mrs. Beaton explained to the Council the expenditures she had made before the:
end of the year 1972 and that a bzl.ance of go, was left and returned to the town.
Upon motion duly made by far. Stratton and seconder., it was unanimously:
VUTLEDm To accept the expenditures by Mrs. Beaton with a balance of g¢
Mrs, Beaton explained that she had been before the Finance Committee with
other members of the Council but she was still, waiting for an answer.
zv rs. Beaton and Mrs, Murphy have preseh -,ed their summary of the Health program
to the Board of Health but are waiting for a letter of approval before organizing
the Mrs, Beaton: reported the Town received a check for $900.00 on
Decean"; r 14th for the use of the Council in developing the Health Program. Mrs. Sias
Su,%7 re t,er~ possibly a group of church women could be trained under the
r 7w c:~_'_ : nor ~7ership to help with the Home Care program.
,`~,f tc r considerable discussion of the possibility of opening a "Drop-In, Center"
in the immediate future and of the neccesary arrangements and neede publicity and
upon motion duly made by,,- Mr. iratton and seconded, it was unanimously-.
VOTED: To open the ";prop-In Center on February 2, 1973 from 1-030 w 4:00 .M.
The center will be opera every Friday from then on for all residents over 65.
Discussion followed on the possibility of setting up a Non-ofit Corperation
that could ask for funds that would help with the program. It could possibly
provide funds for projects not included in the Town budget. It was suggested that
the Tannerville pair might be included in such an organization. Uon motion duly
made and seconded, it was unanimously :
VOTED: That a meeting will be held. January 31, 1,73 ~ ' ~_nner
