A meeting of the Council on Aging was held ( , v0esd y evening, November
17, 1971, at 7®30 PY, at, the Housing for he Elderly.
The meeting was called to order by Its. Seaton, the Chairman, `.tghos
present in addition to Wsb Beaton were Messrs Evans, Stratton, Ca:C'Y1t'?r`3m, Mies.
uanis, Lang, hiss Leslie, and the Rev. It. Erich. The Rev, It.Emrich, the
not-rector of the Church of the Good. Shepherd$ was welcomed as a visitor to the
Council
Upon notion duly made and seconded:, it was unanimously:
Vt~`. 1 To accept for the records the Secretary's rerart for the meeting
held on October .2";, 1971, copies of which-had previously been Wind to all the
members of the Council.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously:
V To accept the Treasurerts report showing a balance of $637,418
in the funs allocated to the Council by the Town of Reading for the c -re It year.
Mrs. Beaton read a letter from NO. Carder, the former Chai u of the
Council., telling of his work in a similar program in Stamford, Connecticut,

Upon action duly made and seconded, it was unanimously:

Its. Seaton was authorized to pay an amount up to 0 to Peter Vincent
for setting up tables and chairs for the dinner upon pr °tion of the billy..
his. Beaton reported on a meeting with the Selectmen, stating that per-
mission was given orthe room at the back left corner of the first floor of the
Community Center for a Health Program in the event that such a program is finally
decided upon..
She also reported on the classes under he Community Program for the
Elderly to the effect that all of the classes initia.t,ed this fall were going
very well--Discussion Croup, Current Affairs, Cre. ;.2broidery, pug Hooking and
Braiding, and Contract Bridge. She 1 that proba,bl7 the Contract Bridge Class
would continue after the first of e even though this had not been specifi-
cally planned for at first
its. Beaton stated that she had contacted Harrow's Restaurant con,ce:r°ning,
Ve possibility of providing hot. 1onchys to elderly people,w o really need thee,
and it a favorable price had. be& quoted. No other restaurants had been re-

the possibility of delivering such meals

It was also recommended that £?i7_^s. Beaton look into the cost of having
stationery printed for the Council.
Since nothing had, fret been heard from the Finance onn ttee of the T'alan
since several members met with it on October 26th, Whs. Beaton at this pcAnt in

Committee, who informed her that it would not be possible for the Council s have

one year would have to be turned over to the Town in the regular account of the
Council.
The following motions was duly made and seconded:
