O'Leary took the action to draft a brief article to appear in the Reading News insert of the Suburban News. This article will be delivered to the Town Manager by December 11 and will be in the December 26 issue. R. Sanstad briefed the committee on his conversation with the architect, D. Finney, regarding the location of the Birch Meadow portables. The concern is that they will be placed in such a - location that they would have to be relocated once construction begins on permanent facilities. The architect confirmed this concern and recommended they be placed on the opposite end of the building. Sanstad then contacted the Town Manager to determine if the DPW and/or the Public Safety (Fire/Police) departments had any concerns regarding locations of the portables. The Town Manager will check with the organizations and communicate back to us within the next couple of days. The results of this effort will then be communicated to Dr. Munnelly for any appropriate action. D. Farnham presented the report and recommendations of the sub-committee ( Farnham, Cowell and Graham )which performed a detailed analysis of the Ensminger Population Projection. Detailed discussion then followed regarding the appropriate mix of portables and permanent classrooms. The impact on other educational requirements was also discussed. After modifying the original recommendations, a motion was made and carried which accepted the sub-committee report. The report will be provided to the elementary Principals. The report and the recommendations will be provided to the Superintendent and presented to the School Committee at their December 14th meeting. A meeting will also be scheduled with the architect to give him the direction to proceed. Instructions to the architect will include considerations for expansion, renovation and cost impact.
